Real &@&*@%& problem - cat napping on my car
I know I'm not the first one to have this problem.
At my old apartment, there was a homeless guy who rested his beer cans on my car once in a while. Pissed the hell out of me, but I moved to a new place recently and now I have a new problem: stupid *** cat likes to sit on all the cars in the garage, and the 350z happens to be its favorite.
I have already seen some light scratches and stuff from where it jumps up.
I am thinking about getting a car cover for at least a little protection...
Even though I am an animal lover, this one cat in particular has made me contemplate putting some rat poison in a can of tuna and "leaving it to chance." It has no respect whatsoever... when I first moved in, it sat there on another person's car and watched me. Then I caught it on my car recently and it bolted as soon as it saw me.
I think it's a stray cat. What the **** do I do about this cat, other than getting a car cover?

excuse the camera phone pic but....
go to home depot. Buy 2-4 small plastic flower pots and the next size up drip plate, so that the bottom fits over the top of the planter. Then you cut/drill large holes around the top.
like:

Home Depot should have Cat repellent granuals..
like
http://www.havahart.com/store/produc...142&dept_id=15
Put a rock in the planter so wind cannot blow them away. Fill with granuals.. cover with the lid. Tape or use wire to keep the lid on. Place around your parking spot.
No more animals.
you can actually just pour this stuff around your car (outline). its bad for shrubs and wont last long this way (a week w/o rain). And you can track it into your car when just poured around. However, it will keep the cat away for a long time as it will break his pattern/habit of even coming around.
Just one pot will probably discourage him.. 2 or more will really keep him away.
My neighbor feeds like 10 cats (nutcase). I used 4 of these.. HIGHLY concentrated
I havent seen cats near my car in 2 years. Really.. only 2-3 weeks and the cats want nothing to do with my house. They just avoid it out of habit.

Another option is to catch the cat in a live trap and take him to Animal Control. My local Animal Control center loans out traps for this purpose.
Keep in mind that Animal Control might euthanize him if no one claims him, so if you think this cat is someone's pet, I probably would try the repellant first.

"You know he prob won't last the whole day?"
don't kill the cat... take it and relocate it somewhere away from your development--it's what I do and have done when a cat had kittens and they would get inside the engine of my 2003 Maxima somehow...
With the 350Z, I just took care of what's probably the most annoying thing: a complete and total infestation of ants... I killed 3 nests they had and I'm still working on the remnants.

+1!!! I hate cats but I would never shoot one!!!
I think I know WHY the cat may be in love with your Z....Someone posted a few days ago about the hood staying warm for several hours after the car is turned off.
Maybe Kitty likes the warm hood??

Lock and load, I'm going to home depot.
I bought the granules that tware suggested. They had them at OSH.
I sprinkled one canister all around the entry points of the garage, to discourage the cat(s) from entering. Then I made 4 "pots" and put them around my parking space.
I guess the stuff is just black pepper and some other spicy stuff (capsaicin)... seems humane enough to me.
I can definitely smell the pepper in the gated parking area now, so I guess that means the cats can smell it 100x ?
