Default Gettin' colder outside...check your tire pressure

Hey guys...just thought I'd post a friendly reminder to check your tire pressures now that Fall is in full swing across the country. Around here the high temps went from the upper 80's just over a week ago to barely 50 the last couple days. I checked my tires this morning and all of them were down over 10psi each.

What are you getting as the cold pressure?

I run 40psi in my front and 38psi in the rear as the COLD pressure which is within the specs for my 19" SP9000's.

As a rule...you always want to measure and adjust pressure on cold tires. That way you get a more consistent reading. The psi specs listed in the manual, the sticker in door jamb and even the sidewall are all cold psi readings. If your getting only 35-40 psi on HOT tires...then you may be under inflated by a good bit. If i recall, nissan wants the z's oe tires at 35-38 psi cold. Low profile(18",19",20") will likely need even more.

What tire pressure do u guys like to stay at? Manufacturers always say 35 psi cold, i have always liked to keep my tires at 40 psi cold. The 18" Potenza's on my 06 state 51 psi max on the tire. I'm running at 40 psi cold like i always have.

I know over inflating can be just as bad as under, where u will get bad tire wear.

If you’re happy with 40 PSI, go for it. 40 PSI is more safe than 30 PSI.

Folks,
Posted the below in the Tires/Wheel Forum last week without much success...
The TPMS still bugs me, i.e. today ranged from 30-34, same driving conditions as detailed below for about 15 miles.........I drove about 1.5 miles and checked pressure, gauge had it at 35...do I have a system problem or is the TPMS not that accurate?

I'm a new 05 Roadster owner and have never had a TPMS before. Had the car for two days when the system went off, added a couple of pounds of air (35 PSI ) and the system corrected itself. My problem is now I monitor the pressure all the time! (I know I don't have to). Have read all the articles about tire problems with the Z and have become paranoid.

I have OEM Bridgestone Potenza REO040 18s.
My question is what is the acceptable PSI variance? This AM The range was from 32-37....37 was reached after 25 minutes of driving, of which approx 10 minutes was at 70 MPH. I have read strings in this forum where the pressure reaches 40+ psi.

Is it better to error on the high or low side?

Appreciate any advice.

Does anyone know if the dealership can adjust the TPM if you upgrade from stock 17's to 18's or G35 18's?

There's no adjusting that needs to be done. It monitors the pressure no matter what size tire or wheel you have on them.

They have to be careful to make sure when moving the monitors from one set of wheels to another, they keep them on the same corners, otherwise they will need to be reregistered to identify which monitor is for what corner.

I've heard that the pressure monitoring needs to be in the right corner of the car, so does that mean we can't rotate our tires? Probably a newb question, but I've never seen an answer for this.

The system include 4 sending units (one located in each wheel) and a sensing unit.

Thats the good thing about nitrogen in your tires. You don't have to worry about temperature drops affecting PSI. I would recommend that anyone who can find a place to fill up nitrogen in their tires should.

when i said right, i meant correct location. So the FR rim always has to be on the FR, so you can't rotate the tires unless you take the tire off of the rim?
