Default !3.6 Roadster

Hey every body I have an NA motor 350z convertible and have over 6,000 put into it. But my best friend danny still seems to beat me buy a 1 and a 1/2 car lenght. He has way less mods than me and his cars a 6 speed. Thats the only difference. Does any body have any advise on how to make my car faster besides a turbo or supercharger.

First off Im assuming your best friend has a Z as well..Second is his Z a roadster like yours or a coupe and what year...If its a coupe he has then he weighs less than you and he has mods so that may be why hes beating you...If you are both roadsters it would help to know what mods he has....For instance, if he has a 3.9 gearing among his other mods he may out accelerate you regardless of how much more mods you have than him. If its none of the above then it could be anything from driver, to you having a weaker performing car, he had 1/4 tank you had full tank etc. So many variables, thats why I run against a car regardless to how fast it looks on paper.

NOS won't blow your motor unless you use insanely high shots. Try a 75 shot and see what it does. Can't beat NOS for the money.

Thumbs up "BestFriend"

Jenna350z is a fast car for an automatic. It's a Convertible and it's auto. What I think the difference is, my car is an 6speed and a coupe. Also, I know how to the drive my Z. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Cause other than me you haven't lost to any other Z's from what I've seen. Nos bottle might do the job. But u know I'm not goin to stand there and watch. lol Might have to throw one in myself. lol I still love ur car and respect it. It's a chick magnet. Lata Bro

Besides FI? How about racing camshafts, headers, intake, exhaust, lighter rims, better tires, LSD, lightened pulley and flywheel??? That would put ol' Danny in his place!

...OMG! Do not forget to upgrade yer GROUNDING WIRES.

If he is goin to do all that. Might as well just get a SC or Turbo........Then it wouldn't even be a race.

How much would a NOS setup be for an Automatic? Also where would you mount the tank in an Auto????

Thanks

Not gonna happen with your auto-well not as easy as for a well driven 6-speed anyways. To be really fast down the 1/4 you need a good launch. And a 6-speed with DR's or slicks will own you every time in that aspect, and if he can shift its just gonna pull away. BTW your heavy Axis rims slow you down, and cancel out some of yoru mods. Try running some lightweight (possibly) smaller rims with less rotational drag and you will feel a difference. Also you might really want to look into the 6MT rear end swap. That will give you that low end grunt you lack. What do you run?

Aren't auto-convertibles the heaviest of the lot? I believe just being a convertible adds close to 200 lbs. versus the coupe.

You could also do the lightweight crank pulley to free up some hp and throttle response and upgrade your final drive to the stock 6-speed gear which is 3.5xx. That should be good for a couple tenths off your 1/4 and better acceleration in all gears. That might help you stay closer to him.
