A little off topic, but if you are talking about Lexus's two seater. The wood grain interior has got to be the ugliest thing I have ever saw. When I was looking to buy a car I thought the Lexus was a good looking car, then I looked inside. I then said no way

back on topic, the IS is a lot more boring than the Z, and not a real enthusiast car...it'll keep up with the Z possibly in a straight line, but never on the twisties...306 hp isn't going to carry the luxury car weight very quickly...plus the toyota cars can't ever fit a deep dish wheel, which is a plus for the Z...also the Z is much more badass looking in general, and rarer...Lexuses (Lexi?) are for old people

faster in a straight line? who cares? they paid more for a car that doesn't look as good, and is basically a 300hp sedan. Won't handle like a Z on the track, doesn't have the aftermarket the Z has, etc.
They'll hype it up for a few months and then it'll fade.
And like someone said......do you really ever see young people in Lexus' anymore? They (toyota) has outpriced their target market...thats why they had to build the Scion brand, lol.

The IS is hella quick and got good handling. I drove one at the taste of lexus...they had a course setup for us. I think it will give a Z a run for its money at least in the straight.

The IS350 is faster then the Z. I'm sorry but the VQ is weak up high, and clearly Toyota's new V6 isn't. Just look at it's 1/4 time, it's in the 13s but with a 104 trap. It is trapping 3-4 mph then a stock Z, and it weighs more.
The Z shines in the lower speeds. It's all evident by the stock trap speeds of cars, how they will perform on say freeway race.
That's why the next Z needs to have the V8 used in the current Infinitis or another version. It needs more top end power.
All that being said who the hell really cares. The IS350 is a damn luxury sedan like a G35. The comparison is G35 sedan vs IS350 not Z vs IS350. Why do people on this forum insist on comparing apples to oranges?
The IS350 is nowhere near as good in the twisties as a Z, so come on now.
I'd love the VQ to exhibit better top end, but I wouldn't trade it for a slushbox IS that will probably flail hard in the corners

Im not 100 percent sure thats ur right, ok so fast on paper, someone needs to put a z next to an is350 and run them both. There was a taste of lexus here too, i didnt get to attend but from what i understand they IS is deadly fast, 5.3 0-60? isnt the Z33 running that for our best mag time? I really do not think the IS can take a Nice 6 speed Z from a a roll. because of the auto trans in the IS, on a straight line i am not convinced the IS will take all the glorty but i will call it a drivers race for now.

I always thought the IS300 would make a good daily car, with the Z as my fun car. I thought it looked pretty good and had a mod-friendly V6.
Too bad Lexus made the new IS350 so expensive. I think even an IS250 is $35,000.
One of these days I'll be able to afford a second car.

I think it is great that the performance of the IS350 is up. Now Nissan will have to step it up on the 350Z to stay in front of the pack. Competition is a good thing in the automotice industry. It is a win-win for consumers.
