I can assure you, The Z (stock) will beat a stock WRX all the time (look at the base numbers)... BUT the WRX will have an edge in the winter on snow covered roads...

stock vs. stock with equal drivers the z will win at any speed from any speed. my friend has an 04 wrx, and when we were both stock it was always easy to beat him. now that we are both modded it is a much closer race from a roll, and with a good launch he could probably always take me off the line.

just keep racing him from a stop over and over and you will win when his clutch goes up in smoke or his tranny lets go... If he is really getting good launches, with good tires, then it is just a matter of time

^^^ haha... he doesn't race from a dig usually for just that reason. he is still on the stock clutch and i'm sure the extra power he is making isn't doing anything good for the wrx's weak tranny.

I think the poster is refering to the NON-Sti WRX...the 230+horse one...The Z would stomp that one into the ground..Even worse on the top end...Ive read some, stock to stock, even outrun the STi on the top end so the regular WRX wouldnt stand a chance against the Z I would imagine...

+1 stock Sti or Evo given both good drivers Z will win ever time! From a dig the Sti can be hard to beat but from a roll no threats if the Z driver is at least decent at shifting and not granny shifting. Evo in stock form will get caught from a dig at around 100-120, again depending how good of a shifter the Z driver is. I've caught an Sti around 135+ from a dig. Good figure!

LOL. I snicker at similar front-wheel drive econo-boxes. When there is 2 inches of snow on the ground, and I’m sitting at home with the Z parked, then the Subaru is “fantastic.”

You will beat him, but watch out for the 06's from digs.

An Sti can win against an auto 350z, but against a manual it's the other way around. Giving the both are equal drivers and again. From a dig it takes a 6spd Z up to 130+ to catch a Sti but from a roll a 6sp Z will win.

Oooo...Dont say that...You will be sleeping with the fishes when the 5at Mafia sees you said the manual Z is faster then a 5at....Enjoy your 6 speed while you still can...

On top end speed the 6spd manual is faster than the auto due to the gearing, including dragstrips. That's been proven so many times! Don't get me wrong an auto is fast down low but when your talking about speeds of 110+ that's when the 6spd will shine over the auto.
