Default Anyone get rid of their roadster for a coupe.....

Just curious about why. I've had this thought every now and then. While I do love my ZR, there is no doubt that after about an hour or so of driving with the top down, all the outside noise does start to get to me. Especially trucks driving by.....my gawd, is that loud! Driving in the rain is also a noisy experience. I always wanted a convertible, and I'm glad I did it just this once with such a hot looking roadster, but I don't think I'll do it again.

I’ve never owned a soft-top for the reasons that you mentioned. But I have met soft-top drivers who swear that top-down driving is the greatest thing on earth. Fifty degrees and they are wearing a parka with the top down: and they have a big smile on their face.

Like sport car enthusiasts, driving with the top-down is a love affair that coupe owners will never understand.

i think a german convertible like M3 conv will do the trick with the noise...
they have much much better insulation

I was thinking more about the noise with the top down. It's really not the wind noise that bothers me. Wind noise management in the ZR is superb. Up to about 80mph, you can still easily have a conversation in the car even with the side windows down. I've gone 100mph with the side windows up and it's reasonable. What really bothers me however, is traffic noise. It is something I never really considered before buying a convertible. Even in cold weather, I'll have the heat up to 90, seat heaters on and top down. It is fun, for sure, but after some time on the road the environmental noises start to bug me.

Of course, I'm sure if I did trade conv. for coupe, after a short while I would be missing my roadster! Must be that whole "you always want what you don't have" phenomenon or something.

So....I was on Route 95 in Philly 2 days ago around 10 am or so and what did I see???

A blond chick in a Red Mustang Convertible, with the top and windows down, wearing black, fluffy EARMUFFS?? I was laughing so MF hard, I could barely concentrate on driving!

BTW...I think the Temp was maybe 50 degrees or so.

God, I wish I coulda snapped a pic of that!

ZR is the only reason I bought it. What a thrilling rollercoaster ride! All the noise is fine with me. Especially my screaming exhaust noise is just so SAWEET! The only thing I'm missing is a tan. Lolz

I love my Z Roadster. You can't beat the sensation of riding with the top down and chicks hollerin at you and staring. I'd probably get that same reaction with a coupe, but having a convertible to me is a definite plus.

...
imo the only reason to buy r vert is to pose around town showing whos got the big dick...
until a real baller shows up with a 360 spyder and shuts you down lol
in colder regions verts almost have to go into winterizing... (aka done)

It'S for the feeling of open air, of course posing is also fun, but nothing beats flooring on an on ramp feeling free like in a vert.

I'm storing my car for the winter, though you see a lot of verts drive around in the winter here.

in my area ppl have like 5 cars.. so if its warm bring out the verts if its cold bring out the hardtops, if its snowing they bring out their x5 and caynnes, then if its something in between they dont drive cuz they suck at life and cant pick something out

I'm with you here. I've always wanted a vert, got one, and I enjoy it, but I'm not sure if I'll ever buy another one.

I was all set to buy the coupe when my wife convinced me to buy the roadster. Dam#, she was right again. I love the sound. I have been leaving work early everyday just so i can enjoy these last warm days before the ZR goes top up and under cover. A targa roof or a t-top for the coupe would really work.
