I ordered mine by fax on 2/20 to northern La.. (not Los Angeles)
My number is 2289/10000..finally something substantial.. In the past my dealer has said that most of the information will come directly from Nissan NA.. and we'll get most info quicker and more reliable than the dealers.. HE prob just want to sell cars and turn them over now.. $$ is what they care about ..

I think this package has caused quite a bit of excitement for everyone. Aside from our confirmation letters previously received, this package emphasizes the fact that we are actually going to be tooling around in new Z's fairly soon!
I've been entering all the packet numbers and order dates (along with nicknames and locations) in a spreadsheet, and looking at the numbers. I hope to get it posted soon in a .asp format, where people can enter the info on a form, and then sort the results on the fly. (Help!)
So far, 80 people have posted their packet numbers. It will be interesting to see how many of the pre-order people we have visiting the site. I'm hopeful that on Monday and Tuesday a lot more people will have received their packets, and post their numbers.

Looks to me like the correlation in the numbers vice order date (if any) is pretty loose. I have seen people that have order dates before mine with higher numbers, and its even true for those that ordered in January.

Ordered mine on Feb. 28. Number on package is 2685/10000.
Matt
Chrome Silver, Touring 6MT
Ordered 3/20...and know that the dealer faxed it 3/21...my number is 3117
Dr. Bonz...
I ordered my Z on 3/21/02 as well. My number on both my Pre-Order confirmation and the envelope for the index cards is the same 010451671 and Limited Edition No. 04085/10000
And mine:
Ordered March 26th - 02674/10000

I know another member also did a graph, but for some reason, it wouldn't load for me.
Here is the Chart I did , which is current through this post.

This is just my vision, and has no truth to it whatsoever. I was considering calling Leslie Uggams (or was it Dionne Warwick?) at the Psychic Friends Network to get some clear answers.

Good Job, "Scaf" ... don't need any 'regression analysis' for that plot ... "linear as a murf" as my local radio degenerates might say! As with any data analysis, there will always be "free spirits" ... but for the value of our in-depth 'discussions', it is close enough.

My goal now is to just get my silly chart back to the way it was!..

That kind of lines up with what I imagined. Let me focus my tai-chi for a second... I see... I see... I see rooms full of summer interns with piles of boxes around them. I see these interns diligently wrapping a randomly selected Z package in bubble wrap for shipping to an equally random recipient.

Check out this thread. Zisme said there is no correlation between that and delivery date. Obviously with this graph there is a correlation with the date you ordered and the number you received, but that doesn't mean that you're going to get your car first just because you're number 245...

The graph, aside from showing the packet#/date relationship, also shows the orders that for some reason are our of sequence drastically. Example is Nizl's order, where he ordered 1/16, but got a packet number more related to a late Feb/early march order date. (I think Nizl has posted that his dealer boo-boo'd). Then there is VQracer, who got packet 922, but ordered at end of March, and should've been in the 3600 range.
Like ZISME said, they didn't get it perfect as far as matching up the packets with dates. The graph shows some discrepancies. Doesn't really mean much, but was fun to create, and I learned a bit more about publishing excel charts as web pages :-)
