That's funny. Where I live, Silicon Valley, 911's and SL500's are the norm and my modified Z is a gem for the eyes. I have seen my Z get more attention than 911's and SL500's and various AMG's and M-cars, in traffic and in parking lots.

That surprised me how much some people seemed to care about my money when I bought my Z. It's basically a $30k car, and I had all of these coworkers with full size pickups or SUVs that cost the same money questioning how much I make. The whole point of the Z from the 1960s-present is that it's in reach of most middleclass wage slaves...

It's all relative to the "norm". Out here in Anaheim Hills, plenty of Z's, stock and modified. Out in Palos Verdes/Beverly Hills, it's BMW's and MB's, enough to make one yawn.

A modified car is still a modified car, and I'm sure people will look at one regardless of the situation/location. Whether or not the Z "reputation" applies, I can't be sure (i.e. own a Z = "filthy rich").

At the top end of snobbery, a lot of the high school kids in these areas roll in the Porsches, SL's, and Astons, and the (ahem) "poor" kids have the Z's. I don't agree with that depiction, but the local population of cars/owners seem to drive/determine "reputations" associated with cars.

People that don't know will always think a hot sports car is very expensive. I've never received any looks or comments when I driving a Maxima but the moment I got the Z everyone thinks I'm made of money. They still don't believe me when I tell them its practically the same pricetag. But Zs in my area are scarce. I might've seen 2 other Zs since I bought mine 3 months ago so it's nice to see people's heads turn.

I had a nice 337 GTI before my Z. I have noticed driving the Z here in Dallas that people are a lot more courteous in a way. They do not tail gate me anymore and they actually yield to my right of way now. Oh, of course the ricers blow by with their fart cans still

The Z coupe in my trim isn't even the most expensive car nissan sales... the Altima SE-R and most (if not all) the Maxima's have a higher MSRP

I think it's the look of the car, and the Z is a very sharp car. I had my 7th Gen Celica (the last body style) before you really saw many around, and I had people honestly look twice at the car. It was only a low 20K car, but it looked really sharp, and I think it gave the impression of being expensive at the time.

My z got instant recognition in the parking lot at work. I liked driving around with the temp plate.

I had a 2004 Evoluiton 8 before the Z. People used to be total a$$'s to me on the road. Now I have the Z I'm experiencing the same thing. People are more courteous. Props on the 337, I used to own one of those as well.

i think i have a reputation with my dealer. i print off a check list of what needs to be done everytime i go to the dealer. i think they are tired of me bringing the car in.
you think they are tired of you?? Lol all of Performance Nissan techs and Nismo guys know me by name. Whenever I show up the girl outside comes and says "hi you are looking for Tim( my service director)". I don't even have to say anything and just nod my head.

Yeah, like someone else on here said.. people drive pick-up trucks and SUV's all the time with the same price tag as the Z, but for some reason Z's get a lot of attention and are thought of as "expensive". I had a cop pull me over to write me a speeding ticket and asked, "How much was that car? $45,000?" I still can't really pinpoint why the Z has its reputation, but I'm not complaining.

I'm so glad I didn't pick up an Evo, STI, RX8, or S2K for the same price because I wouldn't get the same "respect" from the average person who doesn't know too much about cars. (This is just my opinion; I'm not hating on those cars at all so please no flaming! )

Its because the Z looks like it costs 50-65k. Thats the cars appeal. Look at the Lotus Elise it looks like a 150k exotic when its only 45K.

lol yep all my friends and co workers thought i was stupid for buying a Z b/c it seemed so impractical and I guess they thought it was super expensive... They never said anything to the new hires who went out and got 4x4 crew cab pick up trucks that were way more expensive and use much more gas b/c well, its a truck and yer need ya a truck boy.

I don't see why he's pissed if he has a brand new G35. I prefer the Z, but no shame in owning a new G. Is it a coupe?

You guys get off easy....around town i'm the 23 yr old rich punk with the Z...and the nice pickup...but what they don't know is I work 65 to 70 hr's a week to pay for this stuff. I mean it's crazy this one guy comes up to me in his new F250 all jacked up with new rims and tires and say's "I wish i could afford a car like that" and i asked him how much he payed for the truck, he said $39,500. I mean hello that's 10 more than I payed for my 05 Z.
