Default tinted window ticket

hey guys...I just got a ticket for having my windows tinted...but the thing is that when the cop pulled me over they were rolled down, after pulling me over and checking my DL and ins. he asked me to roll up my windows, and they were 5 percent tint so he gave me the fixing ticket for the tint, but nothing else so he pulled me over for no reason at all, and gave me a ticket, i just wanted to know, can the cops make you roll up your windows to see them after pulling you over

Honestly it's probably not worth the trouble. You'll have to schedule at least one court date and drag it out. Not worth the time and effort in my opinion. I'd just strip the tint off, get the sign off and reapply.

I had a similar expirience in the province of Quebec (they are very diligent about tints)
I dont see why a cop could not ask you to do so... stupid.....

How much was the ticket and how much did it cost to get 5% applied?

Do you have heavy tint on your windshield or back window? Is the ticket specifically for your side windows? Did he tell you why he pulled you over in the first place?

If you don't have any other dark tint, and he didn't write you for anything else then he's in the wrong, because he doesn't have grounds for stopping you...and even if he did, it's not documented on the ticket. So technically, yep you could fight it...but it probably would be more trouble than it's worth.

On the 2nd part...definitely don't start refusing to do what the officer says like rolling up your windows few words will get you more negative attention from police than "I don't want to, and you can't make me!"

I don't think he had PC to pull you over....try talking with an attorney friend. You could probably get out of this!

i'm not thinking about fighting it becasue that's too much hassle and it's only gonna cost like $30 dollars to get the tint removed and reapplied...and my rear window is tinted but it's legal tint rear window...because if i get pulled over again i have to pay fine instead of just getting it fixed for $10...so i wanna know if he can make roll my windows up, or can i refuse

Actually, if tint is ILLEGAL in your state. They can pull you over solely for that reason. However, if they do not have a tint reader [its a device that clips onto your window to measure the light %] then that ticket can be fought. I wouldnt refuse rolling up my window. I dont see why they wouldnt be allowed to ask you to do so anyway.

You can refuse, but the window's coming up whether you say yes or no ;P

Trying to hide illegal tint in your door is kinda like trying to hide crack in your pocket. If the police suspect it's there there's nothing you can (or should) do to hinder their investigation imo. If you give them a hard time, they'll probably give you one right back.

He didn't give any reason at all to why he pulled over... i was heading to work in the morning at 7:30 when he pulled me over and looked around me car and asked for DL but said nothing else, even though i did have smoked taillights he didn't even say anything about them just asked me to roll my windows up...then cited me for those...He prob. pulled me over because i was driving a Z which is modified, lambo orange paint job...I think that's only reason he pulled over for and probably thought there must be something he can find to cite me for... and he was complete s.o.b when talking to me

He didn't even see my tint after pulling me over and asked me to roll up my windows...because i usually drive with windows rolled down and they were rolled down when he pulled me over

I've never been caught with any of my tinted windows. I've had 5% tints on my Volvo s70 t5, 20% on my vr-4, and currently have 20%'s on the Z. I don't understand why anyone would get a tint darker than 20% on the Z. The Z is such a low profile car light will barely get through anyway. I can barely see out the windows with my 20%, how is it for your 5%?

LCD tint. Slickest thing ever invented, but I've only seen it once, and that was on a Miata.

That happened to me once but instead I used my mind powers to make the cop start dancing like a chicken and then I just drove off.

That happened with me too! Except I had him repeat "these aren't the window tints we're looking for" and then he told me to "move along, move along"
