Default Need advice

Hi, I'm a newbie to the site as you can see and just needed advice on a decision. I currently own a g35c and although i love my car the 350Z has been appealing to me lately. I feel that I am more attracted to a simple thorough bred sports car and the 350z seems to be the right choice. I've been receiving negative feedback from my friends saying I'm stupid and I'm downgrading but I don't believe so. What do you guys think?

Your friends are 'tards. Its the difference between do you want a sports car or a sporty coupe...

This is a 350Z forum so I’m a bit biased. We also have a G35 forum, and always welcome our G35 brothers. At times this sort of thread results in “Which is better 350Z vs G35?” argument. I have no desire to begin such a foolish argument. The G35 and 350Z are different: neither is better.

I suggest that you find some new friends who respect your opinion.

20 years ago driving a Cadillac was a status symbol. Today General Motors is on the verge of bankruptcy. Who would have thought.

I bought Z instead of G cuz I wanted a sports car that looked like a sports car. I bought a Z cuz I didn't feel right driving manual in a look alike sports car. I bought a Z cuz I don't wanna take my friends in the back seat!!!

Honestly, the G35 and the 350Z will drive very similarly. The Z is definitely a more pure sports car. The Z definitely has more of a ragged edge to it and feels somewhat sharper and more responsive than the G. You will be sacrificing a little comfort and in-cabin quietness. You are not downgrading, by any means, but you are giving up that upscale name. That matters in some circles. You can no longer say "I drive an Infiniti". I had to deal with this when I sold my Audi S4 to get my Z roadster. On the flipside, you are becoming part of a heritage. The Z is one of only a handful of vehicles that has a long standing heritage(Vette, Mustang, Porsche 911, BMW M3 and a few others)

The G coupe is a gorgeous car, just like the 350Z. Honestly, unless you have your heart set on the 350Z, why not wait just one more year to see what the new 2007 G35 will be like? My guess is that it'll be a better car than either the current Z or G.

The G35 is a nice car. But I feel that it is a downgrade from the Z.

Here is why: Its slower...dont listen to anyone who says otherwise all the times and facts, drag times, magazines etc all show it slower...its slower period.
Its got 4 seats for the family man who needs 4 seats because his wife wont let him buy a Z.
The Z looks better...they are very similar but put two together and you will see what I mean.

Want a real sports car...buy the Z
..want a slower 4 seating family man car that costs more and is slower buy the G35.

Whenever someone starts with "My friends/family/Gf/etc. say..." my first response is when are you going to start basing your life on what YOU think instead of others?

When it comes to sporty type cars (not much to do with real function) my motto is "whatever floats your boat".

I bought the Zzz because it jumped off the page when I looked at it; thank goodness it also turned out to have power, a good ride, & comfort.

Looks prevail to me; the Z stands out, the G 35 is just another sports coupe (imo).

Just get what YOU want. Your friends aren't the ones that will be making the payments or driving it...

I had the same dilema a month ago when I bouthg my Z. The reasons I picked over the G are:
a. My wife drives a G sedan and the coupe felt the same inside
b. Z's can be found with many miles less. I got my 03 with 6.5k on the odometer.
c. Z is a true sports car. Lightweight and nimble. G is heavier and not the same feel
d. Z's can be found $3-4,000 less.
e. Easy to upgrade stereo on Z. The G requires all kinds of extras, about $4-500 for A/C controls, and dash panels to mod. If you want to change head unit.
f. Color selection on G's sucks, plain white, red, black, blah blah blah plus ugly blue. I wanted something that stood out. Got a sunset orange.

On the other hand the extra $$$ for the G gets you:
a. Brembos on 6sp
b. "Back seats"
c. Auto headlights
d. Sunroof
e. Loaner car through the warranty period
f. 1 year extra warranty up to 60k miles
g. Little more luxury.

So, bottom line, I got my Z as a third car and it is only for the weekends, etc. So I decided to get the Z, save some cash and not worry about it.

Yes, I have had 3 or 4 jackasses that don't know anything about what they are talking about ask why I didn't get the G. Oh, well, I'm happy with it and that's all I gotta say.

Oh, and BTW, I think the extra cash for the G is well worth it if you are interested in the extras above.
