Default 2005 Vs 2006

I keep hearing diffrent stories about which would win in a race.

a 2005 stick with 287 hp with 274 TQ or the 2006 with 300 hp and 260 tq.

I keep hearing the 2005 would win?

I think it'll be close if not even depending on the drivers.

barney the dinosaur and those boohbah things would run into the ring and beat them both with steel chairs. The ref would disqualify the match.

Mike Ditka!!!

It all comes down to the driver.

Ok if Mike Ditka was driving a 2003 n/a 350Z and was racing a TT'ed, fully built, 04 350Z.....

Hmmm...Ditka would still win!!

I've seen the specs on Barney and I'm not impressed. If you guys want to feed your childish fantasies and go with Barney, good for you. But until I see some time slips, I say bologna.

actually i have the Best Motoring Vol. 22 in which they raced a 287hp with a 300hp Anniversary Edition...both driven by pros, both neck and neck at the starting line...the 300hp not only got the head start due to the wider rims, but kept a very considerable 2 car length lead on the 287hp the entire race due to having to shift less times because of the higher rev limiter...the driver, Takuya, of the 35th Anniversary said at certain points in the course when he'd have to shift up in the 287hp, he didn't have to in the 300hp

in the end they both agreed that on the street it would be barely noticeable...but on the track, every little thing added up makes a difference...they relate it to F1 racing in which the engines are the same, but the little modification each one has makes the difference between winning and not winning

so in a short answer, the 300hp wins on the track...anyone who says otherwise has no basis for argument as this was a professionally run race by two drivers that do this for a living

EDIT: let me also add that the 300hp wasn't even 300hp but 280hp due to the 280hp restriction in Japan...so both of them had practically the exact same engine, pretty much the only differences being the higher rev limiter, the Brembo brakes, and the wider rims (14lbs. lighter and wider for all 4)...if you take into account the difference of 7 less hp of the 287hp vs. the 20 less hp of the 300hp, i'd imagine the 300hp would win by an even wider margin if at full potential

Best Motoring is not a reliable source, especially given a heavier car with the same power?! Honestly, you would think a car that hit full power quicker would have the advantage, since they supposedly made the same 280 hp. They tend to do biased reports.

The drag strip is a better place to see which car is quicker, by doing a heads up run.

200+ lbs is a lot for a 13 hp increase to overcome, not to mention the torque loss.

On a road course, the extra weight will hurt, as will the loss of torque coming out of the corners.

If it didn't weigh so much more, the slight power gain would help the top end on the longer straights.

IMO, the 300hp Z is no quicker than the Z with 287hp, but time will tell.
