I doubt I'm in a huge, untapped demographic, but I want 'Vette power w/Japanese reliability and value. In other words, 400ish hp and tq in factory form, fully optioned not over 60-65k, even for a 'vert, and Toyota, Honda or Nissan reliability. I drive about 26k/yr. and an American made POS (from a reliability standpoint) just makes me feel uncomfortable, and 'Vettes have always been extremely unreliable.
Also b/c of the high miles I drive, I'm just not comfortable with a TTd Z, even w/forged internals, or I'd have one now.
OTOH, I'd like to have a 911 cab., and Porsche of late has been the reliability leader among the Germans, but I just can't bring myself to pay almost 90k [nicely optioned] for a depreciating asset which I'll almost completely use up in 6 yrs. A friend of mine just bought a new one, and after trying out the new C6, I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be, and I actually preferred the 'Vette's seats (I have a 40" waist) and sense of power. The 911 had a more "connected" feel in the steering and felt more nimble, but I guess I'd rather bludgeon opposing drivers to death than have refinement, sophistication, etc. in a sports car.
That's why a true Honda, Toyota or Nissan (or Acura, Lexus or Infin.) true 'Vette fighter would be a sure buy for me. GT-R's close to perfect for me, but no 'vert will be offered.

Just an FYI, during stress testing the VQ35DE has shown to be able to produce 360 HP for 50K miles (One The testing standards), but that's about it's limits. For the reliablilty reasons we will probably not see more than 340 HP from it. Now the VQ37DE may be a different story..

Japanese sports cars are meant to have TT V6/I-6 's... not V8's. Why? i dont know, but its been like that for many years now. And honestly, i love those F/I V6 and I-6
