Default First Minor Snow Storm in MD

Well, my Z saw snow for the first time today . I wasn't sure how the car would handle with OEM tires, so I decided to leave work an hour early to beat the rush. I remember the days when I was driving my 1995 300ZX and how terrible it was in the snow. Then I decided to call Goodyear in Columbia, MD. I ordered the Blizzacks LM-22, but they won't get them until next Wed. Hopefully no snow until then. BTW, I was quoted $900.00 to buy and install all four tires. I hope I didn't jump the gun and decide to pay too much .....but, I think I was quoted a decent price........I checked tirerack.com and to have the same tires shipped to me was about $750.00.

We had four inches of snow yesterday. The car was manageable with the Bridgestone’s on the front, Goodyear Eagles on the back and a full tank of gas. VDS worked great.

I got caught in the snow for the first time this past Sunday morning. I have falken purely summer tires. Just to get in the garage was a task. I had to place pieces of plywood under the wheels to get it through the snow in the driveway. This was light snow too. From now on any hint of snowfall, the car is staying garaged.

Any summer tire, especially the OEM ones are death traps in any snow/ice. I recently put on the LM22's on stock 17" wheels and was blown away by their performance with the Z. I live in the snow belt here in ohio, so ive had many days to test them and they do fantastic, much better than i thought. Very controllable, and coupled with the TCS/VDC i feel very safe driving the Z in bad weather now.
