I don't see how the Z loses? Just because the Mustang sold more doesn't make it better. I'll take quality over quantity any day!

I don't understand why this would disturb anyone...and in my opinion it's a stupid article thats written from a pseudo-business perspective not from a serious car review perspective. They're also not taking a WHOLE bunch of facts into account, I won't even go into details there...

In my opinion, the fact that Chevy and Dodge are bringing back muscle cars to compete with ford is awesome...competition = good. Let the HP wars begin!

That's quality and class over quantity. Hell, Honda sold more Accords than anything else, does that make it something special?

Default I don't know about you Z owners

...but even now when I go anywhere in my car, folk stop me and pay me compliments on the looks of my Zed.

I see tons of Mustangs out there and I will say I think Ford was wise to re-introduce a car that harkens back to an era when that car was very desirable to own and drive.

Times have changed. Zeds aren't Mustangs. They don't drive like them. ride like them or handle like them. I drove the 6 cyl version of the Mustang last month. Nice car for what it is...but it isn't a ZED.

I hope Ford sells a bucket full of Mustangs. I hope GM and DC do just as well with whatever retro muscle cars they bring to market to compete against the new Mustang. After all, they need the sales.

I'll keep my Zed thanks. It's a different car and it still gets lots of attention. I don't see many people taking the time to walk up to Mustang owners to compliement them on their car. Not that that means much in terms of overall satisfaction.

The 350ZED........ It's not retro........ It's not a muscle car. It's diffferent and it is unique..

It is...a true Sports Car.

Happy Motoring

too bad the mustang and the f series trucks are just about the only vehicles ford is able to sell these days. I'd give them and chevy a couple yrs of existence left unless they are able to pull off a major company overhaul and image revamp. I don't think it was all that wise of them to sell of their most profitable business (hertz) recently.

Me neither, and it's because the automotive writers aren't stupid and don't wish to waste our time reading a meaningless comparison. The V-6 Mustang is anemic. The Z will stomp on it all day long.

That's right! I'm already seeing a glut of Mustangs clogging our freeways, and I don't mind. They've become so commonplace as to get me yawning when I see one.

I was just afraid that this would happen to our Z, but I've never yawned seeing another fellow Z driver on the road.

I hope to goodness that Dodge and Chevy bring back their old cars. Like I've said, I have seen mustangs called sports cars in several recent articles. However, I have always thought of them as being muscle cars. If Dodge and Chevy opt to bring back those cars mentioned in the article, then the Z will not longer be put up against the mustang and the modern day muscle car class will be reborn.

Heck you can add the charger to that muscle car group too.

i agree, i would never compare the Z and the butt-stang. one gets the same amount of hp w/ two less cylinders. i too looked at them for about 1 phone call and when the dealer said they had one silver left they thought i would like, i asked if it was a stick and they said no so i hung up on them and thanked God for leading me in the right direction. those cars are just sh&t on wheels, watch the resale value plumit in a few yrs, ha ha ha

Mustang has no class to itself. It is what every kid who gets his first woody wants to drive.

My 2cents worth... I owned a 03 Z and a 05 GT Convt w/5sp at the same time ( just sold the Z). The Z was a slot car and fun to drive. The mustang is by far faster (stock vs stock). The money you put is a Z to get 500 hp is larger. Getting 500hp on the stang is much cheeper. You spend more money on the mustang to handle the back roads. When I went to sell the Z I found out its major weekness. The resale value sucked. Being only three years old, bone stock, and less than 9000 miles on it all I could get out of it was $22k. It was on the Market for 5 months at $25k This puts it right in line with the mustang. Poor resale value. Enjoy your Z's, they are not for everybody. I enjoyed mine and wish I could have kept it.

As to Ford quality. I have a 99 F150 w/150k miles on it and out side of plugs, pads and tires the only thing to break was a heater ****. My 98 maxima w/148k miles on it keeps blowing out a $5 transmission seal. Other than that it too has ben a good car.

One other thing the ladies/girls love the 'stangs looks. Guys seem to love the Z.

Thats itself makes me not want to buy the Mustang or any Ford. This philosophy does not work in my books. Taking short cuts in engineering is not my cup of tea.

Mustangs & Corvettes are an American icons. I still own both. People usually notice my Z 1st and we'll start a conversation about the Z, but in no time, they will move on to my Mustang GT 5.0, parked right next to the Z. In their voice, you can feel their sense of history / passion for it. Don't think any foreign sport cars will reach their status. And, yes, mustangs do drive like sh*t. It's OK as a beater car.

Well big surprise here but I like them. I think they are very good looking cars.
I think Ford almost wasted a golden opportunity to drive a nail in to the Camaro coffin by offering a V8 that did not match the HP Camaro's put out before they got axed.

They sell because they are good looking cars. Yeah, lots of girls drive them and usually in V6 but so what? Usually girls want looks over performance. (At least in cars! )

Earlier someone mentioned "Why don't they compare the 350Z to the V6 Mustang?" I think it is an excellent point! The short answer is there is no comparison. The 350Z would shame a V6 Mustang as far as performance goes. And that says ALOT about your cars!

Tony, if you don't like your Z trade it in for something you like. Here lately all you post is how other cars out do the Z and how the Z needs to be AWD...

A real muscle car IMHO must have a big block and made in the 60's...like the 426 Hemi Cuda, the Boss 429 Mustang, the Shelby 427 Cobra, or the 440 Roadrunner for example.
