False HP claims from Nissan for the 350z??
I'm looking HIGHLY into getting a 350z Enthusiast and Nissan is claiming 280hp. MOST chassis dyno's are reading 220-230RWHP stock. Where did all that HP go? I mean, the car comes with a carbon-fiber drive-shaft, so not too much should be lost there. Is the tranny just that inefficient? Nissan has been called out a few times recently for bogus HP claims and I'm just wondering if this is just another bogus claim. Any insite would be helpful.

My 6-speed dynoed 235.6rwhp, which would equate to approx 280 using 16% loss. So assume the engine picks up 5-10hp after 5000 miles or so (1700 right now), it would be pretty damn close to 287. I think it's rated right on.

also, be careful to read the dyno reports carefully... many shops with dynos are running Zs in the wrong gear to get accurate reading.
I think most who have done it correctly are yielding around 240hp. As ares said, that's only 16% drivetrain loss... not bad at all.

Seriously though, I must have mis-read somewhere along the way. I thought the dyno's were reading lower than that and were closer to 21-23% loss. Maybe I just read a couple of automatic dynos? Who knows. Sorry for the mix up.
