Default Mother Nature vs. My Z

Well,

For those of us in the Southeast, this past Thursday (yesterday), brought some rather steady, heavy rains and temperatures around freezing.

Weather, very curvy two-laned roads, and a Z will get you..........................

This...

This...

This..

And This...

I've got plenty of pics, but you guys get the idea. I'm fine, but, of course, the Z will not ride again.

Coming out of a deep right hand turn, hit what must of been ice, and the back end got loose. From there, I hit a small ditch, got some air, took down a medium sized tree. At that point, all that I could do was hold on and stare at the silver hood in the windshield.

I'm not sure how far off of the road I ended up being, but I went across a yard and landed in a wooded area. I have some pics on a disposable cam that I took that night at the scene (didn't have the digi-cam). I have yet to get those developed. Strange thing, the front airbags never deployed, only the passenger side curtain/seat air bags.

Thanks God for seatbelts.

To all, thanks for the concern. Outside of a pretty bruised and swollen right hand (no broken bones) and some general stiffness/soreness, all is well.

With all the Z's getting put out of comission lately we should start up an online Z junkyard for spare parts...

Damnit I hate seeing Z's like that. It's like a piece of a small community of motorists dying off.

hoolllyyy... glad you're ok! Jeezus... all I know is... Rims ARENT SUPPOSE TO DO THAT! If rims rip in half like that, that's really dangerous, you must've hit that thing going pretty darn fast. I've seen Rotas get ripped in half only because their construction quality is not up to par, but that comes to show not to get TSW's either!

WOW! The front wheel (axle) took some serious impact. Thanks for the photos and reminding me to drive cautiously in foul weather.

Hwy. 417 between Spartanburg and Greenville. Hey, are you a CU student? I got out of there in '96. I had plans of driving down to the bowl game in a couple of weeks...that's changed now.

Thanks for the concern. The tires were Nitto 555's.

I wouldn't knock the quality of the wheel. With all of the damage to that side of the vehicle, the impact would have wrecked any wheel.

Again, thanks guys.
