Wow, is the cp stock? I dont understand how that could be slinging oil did they mean a seal was bad? BTW if that cp is stock and you havent messed with it, there is no reason it should be loose. Id imagine a wobbling cp would have caused you to spin a bearing....

There was another member on this board that had his CP cracked and the crankshaft warped with puddles of oil, but he was racing his Z excessively.............

The dealership in San Diego actually replaced his engine under warranty.

Did you notice notice any problems with your motor making any different sounds prior to you taking it to Nissan? Did you see any of this "slinging oil"?

If the CP was "wobbling", I would think that you might notice that. I.E. possible noise, or issues with your belts. "Wobbling" to me implies that you can see a noticeable warp kinda like a bent bicycle rim.

Maybe they meant that it was not balanced and caused the seal to go bad. If that was the case, how would they know that it's not balanced.

I guess the point I am making is that it sounds really weird that you have a "wobbling" crank pulley. I would ask a lot more questions before I agree to anything!

Find out exactly where this oil is slinging from.
If it's from behind the crank pulley, was there oil slinging from that area before?
There is really no reason why Nissan would have messed with the crank pulley area for a clutch replacement other than to possibly turn the crank while trying to stab the transmission. They could have accidently bent the pulley itself doing this. Doubt it, but it is possible, especially if you did not have this problem prior to taking it to them.

How many miles did you have when your clutch went out? Another thing to consider is that if the clutch went out too soon and you were not hard on it, you may indeed have had a serious balance or "wobbling" issue that not only caused your "slinging oil" issue, but the early death of your clutch as well. I imagine if the balance issue was strong enough to cause seal or bearing issues, it may have also been bad enough to passed through your flywheel and clutch plate assemebly possibly causing unwanted wear on the clutch.

Either way, find out more!

Get it fixed asap. If your crank pulley comes off the timming sproket can rotate on your crank and your pistons will eat your valves. I had that happen with my g35 when the stock crank pulley cracked.
