NEEED help ! Thinking about getting a Z in two days !
I am thinking of getting an '03 Z this wed from a dealership around my way . I have around $22,000 to spend , and the list price for the vehicle is $22,985 . What do you think I could get the price down to after some negotiating , including the price of registration and title ? Keep in mind that I live in New Jersey and winter is just starting
TIA

How many miles does it have?
I bought my 2003 from car max for 22998 but it had only 11,000 miles and was a black beauty!
I trust car max but a stealership? If it has more miles then mine I would go 1 to 2 k less.

If the list price is $22,985, always make an offer which is less. Say $22,235. As a seller, two things impress me: money and time. If a buyer says “I will give you $blank TODAY,” I may be tempted to say yes. If a buyer beats around the bush with “I am just looking” “I’m thinking about” or “As soon as…” I’m likely to brush them off and find a buyer with money.

The above is not true a 2003 is the first year they came out. They are in my opinion the first and the best.
Thats a great deal KBB private party value for a "excellent" condition is 23620 a "good" rating would be 22340. For a dealership to be offering the same price as a private party is not normal so I would jump on that deal ...
A dealer is supposed to offer the make ready, warranty, etc and hence a premium price. A touring at Car Max is priced around 25 to 26k!! And car max never offers a good deal but all prices are fair based on KBB. The price you are quoting is way low!! You sure its a touring ...does it have leather seats?

First Off.. What's with all these 03s with really low miles?? Damn! Doesn't anyone drive their cars anymore. At least you know it was probably babied. I got 26k miles on my 03.
You might get a better deal if you finance it as many dealers put a markup of up to 2.5% on your interest rate on top of what the bank approves. Once you are approved for the loan.... pay it off in cash(assuming there is a no penalty for early pay) They might give it to you for 20K, because you know they only gave some poor foo 17k for it on a trade.
You could go in and ask for the sales manager and tell him I will give you 20K cash within the hour. Winter is coming, the end of the month/Year is coming and they probably just want to move that car off the lot.
