I don't think they are corelated to our order numbers.

 

I think the number is just a way of saying we are special and making it a keepsake. I bet some of the dealers will get one of these packets which may or may not be numbered. Maybe they are for the first 10,000 customers regardless of pre-order. Either way I doubt nissan even knows which number goes with what order. There would be too much tracking and order involved during the packaging process.

Could it be the 2nd wave of pre-orders...OK: I know there is only 1 true pre-order program with the 6500...but some dealers were given another 3 or 4 slots to pre-sell (not pre-order program)...
Maybe that adds up to 10k

 

The number stands at 6230 to date. Final count.

 

My dealer made the slip and tried to say that there had been 65,000 preorders today. I didn't want to get into the nitpick and tell him that his zeros at the end were a little off as there won't be anywhere near that many Z's made for a few years. Damn I wish car salesmen were a little more in tune.

 

Well, I got two packages on Saturday, so there is probably a surplus of packages to account for this type of thing. I would also guess that they wanted extras for promos, trinkets etc.

 

Maybe some should be shipped to Canada since we are not getting on this side of the border.

 

On July 3rd you will probably see stories that reference over 6,500 pre-sells and some that reference over 7,500...As we met with the different media our number kept growing. We do have all orders in-house now and our final count was a shade more than 7,500 orders. The additional quantities were to provide a piece to our dealers and a few corporate employees.
