Why choose a Z over a G35?

I chose my Z because I think the interior of the G looks a little "old farty" to me. They are sharp cars though, but I love my Z.

The Zzzz lit my fire, looks wise, while the G is just another sports coup.

Form over function, I grant, but, hey, I'm a pretty superficial guy!

PS: But the Zzzz functions REAL well! LOL!

I'm still a little confused how the G is so "luxury" compared to the Z?! This is a big pet peeve of mine... Just b/c it has a goddamned Infinity logo makes it "luxury"?! That's the only thing I'm seeing here b/c the substance of the car isn't very luxury IMO.

I posted pics of my interior v. a G interior and there are no major difference.

Exterior-wise its a SportCoupe similar to the Acura RS-X. Would you call the RSX a luxury car due to styling?!

Performance and handling-wise (while maybe not RIGHT on par with the Z) it's a sportscar with a backseat.

I just don't see how it's so luxury? All I see is an Infinity logo that has everyone drooling, but its really just an overpriced Z that doesn't even perform as well...

^ Don't get me wrong I still love the G and if I had small children or an "oops" baby right now, I'd trade my Z for a G in a second, BUT... not b/c the G is "luxury".

If I want luxury I'll get a BMW 5 series, VW Phaeton, or something...

it is the extras that makes the G35 more luxury... longer warranty, loaner, roadside assistance, brake warranty (03-04 non brembo), 19" both front and back, etc

Also, the Z just got led tails, where as the G was born with them.

I went for the Z cuz I wanted a 2 seater and convertible. Could of gotten the G easily but no thanks. However G's are nice cars, just depends on what your preferences are.

19" front and back is only on the sports package right?

I was disappointed that the G did not step up to the 245 front / 265 rear that the GT/Track package wheels got on the Z.

Actually part of the reason I went for the Z, I don't plan to get new wheels.

If you want a sunroof, get a G.

If you don't go the track and don't care about a 200lbs (is significant) weight difference (some of which is in the sunroof, bad place for extra weight), get a G.

As noted, my #1 reason I like the Z more was the fact the Z looked more agressive/exotic.
Here is proof that the G looks similar to other cars (including some REALLY GIRLY ones). Find me a car that looks like the Z?

G Coupe

Acura RS-X

SCION, Boo-yah

OH YEAH BABY, SOOOOO Luxury lookin'. Take the Infiniti badge off the front and replace it with the Scion logo and you probably would think the G is a Scion GC... Hahaha...

Silkk, dude, you got too much anger in you on this subject. I think there are more respectable ways to explain your point of view then to put down the G35 so as to make our 350Z look better.

there are like 10 times more Gs on the road then Zs... I used to love a G, but im a little sick of it now, since everyone and their grandma drives it lately... same thing as with a Mustang.

Who said I'm angry?!

I have 0 (let me spell it, "z-e-r-o") anger on the subject.

I'm just posting pics to illustrate what I said in the first response to the post. The G looks too much like other cars.

The "replace the infiniti logo with scion and you have the scion GC" comment was a joke... Hence the

Relax fella.

(PS - If you need further proof, read the other 3 replies where I said I love the G.)

Down here in SFL I can definitly say I see more G's than Z's. I actually probably see 1-2 other Z's a day in 60 mile round trip commute and about 3-4 G's if not more.

I have yet to see another 06 350z GT besides mine on the road.

If we are taking the "exclusivity" approach to this, I'll chime in...

I see maybe 3-4 Zs A WEEK in central PA (60 mile round trip commute).

I see about 8 G Coupes a week and 20+ G's if you count sedans.

Never saw a G run faster than a 15.0 flat at the track in stock form. Seen Z's running high 13s...so the choice was simple.

Personally I think the front end of the G is pretty ugly. I don't need/want a back seat. The G interior is similar to the Z, but it just has some cheap leather to cover up the plastic bits and as far as cache.... The Infiniti brand name does not carry the same weight as say BMW or Mercedes, not even close. And most importantly I wanted a sports car not a sporty coupe.
