Tpms...fyi
Last night I was doing the Zaino thing on the new Z and noticed curb rash on the drivers rear wheel. The car had 9 miles before I test drove it, 18 when I took delivery, and 24 by the time I pulled into my garage...so I have no idea where the curb rash came fom unless it was during offloading or make ready.
I gave Gunn Nissan a call and they asked me to bring it in today to swap out the wheel and tire assembly off a new Z...they were cool about it.
30 minutes later I got back in my car and as I was driving home I realized the TPMS for the replaced wheel was dashes...all the others were fine
I took the car back thinking bad sensor/transmitter...but here's how they fixed the problem:
They attached a handheld computer to the car's main computer and erased/ reset the TPMS receiver codes....then, the tech used another smaller remote device and held it against each wheel transmitter to send a registration signal to the main computer...20 minutes and it was all done...no problems driving back home the long way.
Appoarently each TPMS has its very own registration code...why?...I don't know.
Cheers, Z

You want each TPS sensor to only talk to one receiver on your car. You also don’t want to be reading the guys TPS next to you. Thus, its important for each TPS to have a unique signature.
That's kinda' correct. Actually, each TPMS sensor has a unique ID. The tech told your computer which ID is associated with which wheel.
Check out this site, it's the guys that actually make the system for our Zs:
