Default Recirc air without A/C

I can't turn my air on recirculate without the A/C coming on. It sucked, b/c I was driving through Georgia (air is a bit stinky) so I didn't want fresh air coming in. It was cold enough outside so I wanted the heater on. A/C was on even while on heat. WTF.

Ummm, I don't know if the first one to tell you this, but just because the A/C is on, doesn't mean you can't have warm air. Just put the air to inside circulation and then turn the temp over to warm.

I know...but for gas mileage purposes I don't want the A/C to be on whenever recirc is on.

It's just one of the nice unfortunate ticks of our cars...unless I've been driving a defective one for 3 years.

I really don't think that AC cuts down on mileage while on the highway. Driving around town, that's a different story.

PS. Happy New Years Eve everyone!

By my estimates, it seems to drop it by ~3 mpg on the highway.

LOL. Smartass. I was hoping it was something one of the service retards could fix. Guess it's a common problem.

it is not aproblem ...if you have the air possition to defrost the a/c compressor kiks on ..... b/c the auto a/c does not want to bring moist air in to the car, so.... the air comes in gets cooled (whick condessates any moisture ) and then heats the air , so you get warm dry air not warm moist air ...........get it ??

Or throw a switch in line to defeat it.

Or just simply hit the button and turn the ac off after it turns on. I personally don't like the AC coming on every time I flip a switch. It's really annoying and causes unecessary wear. I understand the reason behind it but I don't want the loss of HP and efficiency for warm dry air instead of warm moist air. Warm dry air is hard on my sinuses anyway. I want the AC on to cool the air, not to remove moisture or anything else. If I did I would turn it on myself.

A+ for effort on nissans part but I think this was a really stupid addition.

I think you can do this as long as the vent control is not on a "defrost" setting (i.e. neither defrost nor combo defrost+floor). Also, set the blower control to a manual setting (i.e. not "Auto"), otherwise the climate control logic may override recirculate mode.

None of that works. I'm really surprised that nobody's noticed this. You can't recirculate ANYTHING unless the A/C is on. Defrost, bilevel, regular vents...nothing. It's kind of a pain because during the winter in Dallas, it's nice, and A/C is unnecessary. Chalk another brilliant idea up to those Nissan engineers.

+1 Thier is no getting around the A/C being on if it is set to recir... Its a safety feature since otherwise your windows would fog up and visibility would be impaired. Nissan thinking safety decided that the excess gas is negligiable compared to the extra safety. I agree with them
