The same car 2 different names
Alright guys I need some answers. Why do the G35 and 350z look alike and share the same blood. Sure there are some minor differences (slightly different exteriors) but there the same car basically. One is luxury sporty coupe one is a sport coupe. Remember in the 90's the skyline r33 or r32 had nothing in common with the fairlady z (300zx). They looked entirely different. But now in the present you can see a huge resemblence between the two (skyline ,g35) (fairlady z, 350z) and they even share the same motor. Did Nissan just get lazy and didn't feel like making the two different or am I missing something?

They share underpinnings, but they are marketing to two distinctly different markets with these cars. One is a luxury sport coupe, the other is a sports car. The target demographic displays that.

Basically the G35 is like a 350Z 2by2. Back in the 300ZX era, Nissan made 2 seater and 2by2 versions of the 300ZX as well as roadster versions. But this time Nissan didn't wanna do that so yes as kelly said, they share underpinings but the marketing is different just like the 300ZX market with all their versions. They detuned the engine in the G and gave it a softer suspension and added all the luxurry stuff and sold as an Infiniti so that Nissan won't make the same mistake of charging too much $ like they did with the 300ZX.
