Default Anyone transferred a Warranty before?

So I purchased a used '03 Touring from a guy that had a 100k extended warranty. This was back in March. He assured me the warranty would transfer and that everything would be cool.

Well, I now want to get the rear clicking thing checked and thought to myself whether there had to be some official warranty transfer process that I needed to do. Logic would tell you that the warranty is attached to the car, and not the owner.

I called Nissan today and spoke to some half-english guy in India (I guess they outsource that stuff), and he told me that a) all this paperwork needed to be done by both parties b) it'll cost $50 and c) it needed to be done with 60 days of the sale. So am I totally sh*t out of luck and the damn thing just evaporates?

Anyone been through this before?

Yeah, when I bought my car, I had to fill out the transfer form in the ASP Booklet. You then have to pay 50 bux and have the dealership conduct a warranty transfer inspection (where they charge you a couple hundred bucks to do an oil change and look around with flashlight). If you didn't do any of the above than the warranty isn't transferred.

Do you have to do this process for the standard warranty or just special extended warranties?

just transferred the gold secure+ on mine... but I had to get the seller's signature and info as well as mine on that last page of the booklet and cough up 50 bucks...

Considering that it comes with roadside assistance and was thrown in free..

If you didn't do the transfer at purchase, nissan just got away with somebody's money without having to fulfill the contract...

This is just for the extended warranty. Some further info.... You need the previous owner to sign the transfer form and either give you his asp card or sign the part of the form that says he lost the asp card.

The factory warranty follows the car not the owner. So nothing needs to be done, just transfer of ownership.
