Question Does Wheel Weight matter to you?

It doesn't matter to me (obviously, since i have 20's), but some people are biting guys' heads off just because they don't buy light weight wheels for their Z...i figure if you aren't going to the track, it doesn't matter at all

The Z is a performance machine, so wheel weight matters if you want to keep that aspect.

Had heavy wheels on my last car:
Ride suffered, braking suffered, acceleration suffered.

Never again!

Im a weight *****, but tire weight is more important to me because of its location further away from the center of the wheel there for taking more torque to rotate. But light wheels are also essential.

It matters to me, that's why I downsize, stock 18" to 17" FN01R-C. Save about 6-7 lb a rim.

Yes. One of out members just put 17-inch wheels all around, and posted photos. The response was ... well...lukewarm. 19-inches, 11-inches wide with a 4-inch step, cast wheels are the rage.

Simple lightweight 17-inch wheels get no respect.

i definitely respect people that get lightweight 17's for track use...i just wish people could respect getting 20's for looks...20" is only one inch bigger than 19", but that one inch seems to make a gigantic difference for a lot of people...if i was using the Z as a track car, i'd totally get the lightest wheels i could...as a daily driver though i choose looks over weight...also 19" or 20" lightweight wheels are expensive as hell

Depends...I say it matters if you are trying to beat a clock. Meaning, if you track your car, I would definitely put on some smaller/lighter wheels. For daily driving, I say it doesn't matter since not everyone out there will be racing from stop light to stop light (aka street racing). Besides, the difference will be in seconds. So you get to the local Starbucks faster than they can, who cares? Now if you go about it at an econonomical standpoint, it would definitely make sense since tires for larger wheels tend to cost more as someone pointed out. It's just funny to me that several years ago, people thought 18" & 19" wheels were "gay" & now they are accepted...go figure . What I'm sure most of you would agree is that the wheels have to definitely match the car. Since the Z is a "sporty" car, you definitely need to get "sporty" wheels & not "spinners". But then again, this is just MY opinion. What matters most is if the individual is happy with them. Happy modding!
