Meguiar's has several fairly good products. I've used them on various cars.
  • Soft gel for washing.
  • Paint cleaner for removing oxidation, scratches & swirls.
  • Polish for shine.
  • Carnauba wax for protection.
  • Quik Detailer spray for misting and removing dust between washing and waxing.
  • Spray wax for touch-ups in between waxing.
Of course, you may recognize this a being something different than the Zaino process. Read the label before you use any product, especially on a clear-coat finish.

I always keep a bottle of Quick Detailer and a Microfiber cloth in the car. Spray some on the spot, wipe off, and forget about the spot.

Bird droppings have a very high acid content and, if left on will etch your paint. Get rid of them right away and be careful, some of them contain small pebbles and just wiping them off will scratch your paint. Always have something with you to moisten them first, then wipe off.

wipe it off right away-- it will eat through the clear coat like anything... was hit by some pigeon dropping a few years back in my prelude and after 2 weeks of being a lazy ***, i finally decided to wipe it off. unfortunately, by that time, it had eaten its way though the clear coat and left a mark on the paint. looks pretty damn ugly -- right on the center of the hood. will try to take some pics and post tomorrow once the sun comes up.

speaking of birds, ever see that old nissan commercial where the birds are chasing a maxima trying to poop on it?? pretty funny, they've got the "top gun" song playing in the background... anyways, the maxima makes it safely into the garage and shuts the door. immediately after you see a birds beak ram straight through the aluminum garage door.. hehe... still makes me laugh several years later..

Even a few hours can ruin your paint. It's happened to me.

Thats funny because your car is parked under a tree in your picture.

What if the crap has already etched it's way into your paint? Anything you can do to get it from showing as much?

Not much. I had 2 silver dollar size bubbles on my white MR2T. I was told it needed to be repainted, my entire hood, but I asked a paint shop. I would look for a good chip repair person or ask a detailer for a lead on one. It really depends on where the bad spot(s) is/are and how noticeable. At the prices I was quoted back then, I lived w/them. If my car had been any other color, I couldn't have done it.

Another better source may be a used car dealer for a line on someone, a friend of mine sells cars on the side and has several people he can use to get rid of or reduce blemishes on the cars he sells. I would try this first, now that I've thought about it.

Thanks for the replies. I thankfully removed almost every bit of it by first claybaring it, which didn't do too much, then I took som 3M swirl mark remover and worked it which removed it almost completely, then folowed up with polish and wax. THANK GOD!
