Talking First weekend night in Baton Rouge with my DB

Just got in from my first real cruise around town. On a side note, I must say I love every single Z color...but there's something about the SB and DB at night under city lights that is just...amazing! I was a little wary about a blue car while waiting for the order, (since all my cars have been white or silver) but this particular blue is absolutely perfect. Turns a warm, almost carribean blue in high sunlight, and transitions to an aggresive dark dark blue in the shadows; it's great
Anyways, I've owned 2 cars in my life before this. An Acura Legend coupe, and then an Audi A4 Quattro (both white). After tonite, I am completely convinced that your perception of the world, and the worlds perception of you...change according to what you're driving.

I was cruising down Florida Blvd. (which is the major 6 lane street that divides North BR from South BR) driving legally, enjoying the car, purposefully ticking that odometer towards 1200...then a solara pulls up next to me and honks. After a second I realized he was trying to get my attention, so I look over and this kid gives me a thumbs up, points at the ground and then at the road ahead. So wierd! That was the most overt race request I've ever received. I gave him a polite Naval 'no-go' hand sign (which I'm almost positive he didn't understand, but he got the drift), he nodded and sped off. Hah! So that was cool I thought...random but cool.

Not 5 minutes later, 2 pre-2005 mustangs(definitely modded stangs with stickers; but clean and not trashy) and a RX-8 roll up fast from behind and we're all stopped together at a red light. When it goes green, I start out regular speed thinking these guys are going to pass by..but they don't. The mustangs take a lane to either side of me in front, and the RX-8 just pulls up parallel to my door behind stang#1, and everybody is just driving in form..on me. I thought, I'm imagining stuff, and speed up from 55 to about 70....they all match the pace and hold it. I bet we looked kinda cool from the side of the road (well, the RX-8 and I at least ) I eventually had to jump in my turn lane off the Blvd. but it made me feel good to watch those three take off again after a red light.. and then blow by a Scion tc as if to say "you're not cool enough to roll with us"

The staring never stopped. I assume it had something to do with the smaller Z population down here; but jeez..everywhere....people trying to look like they're not looking, but looking nonetheless ;P I got 2 more race call outs, one from an obviously modded Camaro, that didn't try to make eye contact..just kept following me like a douche revving his weedeater; finally tore off. And then from a e46 BMW 330i, also a douche that was weaving through traffic like a crazy man..and couldn't take a joke when I sorta blocked him in behind one of those techno party buses...

Well, it was great fun thats for sure. A lot more than I expected for just driving around! To everybody with ones of these awesome cars, I'm sure you can feel me; and to anybody that's never driven it~ Be assured, the Z is something special.

Yeah, I love cruising around in the Z and give the thumbs up to other Z owners. I'm rarely around Florida Blvd unless I'm at work or going to Circuit City though.

Are you going to the Z meet tomorrow?
