GTR or 350 modified?
Wait for new 350z and modify the engine. I'm a looks man as well as performance, and the new GTR doesn't capture my taste. I wouldn't refuse one, but for that kind of money, I'd rather get a corvette or the Cayman S.

If you got the money, patience and like the look of the GTR I would wait. The Z is the car I always wanted and even with my full build, I am at less than the rumored prices on the GTR so I am happy with my car.
How important is resale value and a warranty? Just remember, adding FI to a NA car is money you will not get back. I got a Z already that is paid for thus adding turbo is just the cost of the mod. Maybe a good option is buy a used 350Z that is cheaper, add turbo and not pay new car price only to void warranty?
One big disadvantage of GT-R is you got to wait. This reinforces idea of buying a used Z and modding it, then when GT-R comes out, drive it and if you like it better, dump the Z.

Zland, just wondering what people think based on looks and performance. I would have to wait and save enough cash to keep payments cheap. I would however by another new Z and have it modified if it would perform and cost less then the gtr

Installed, TT turbo kit in going to be in the ballpark of 10K. When you add hp, everything else needs to be revisted thus, wheels, tires, brakes, it starts adding up. My suggestion is set a goal, then think it thru before buying anything. Look at my thread at top of 350Z forum called "read this before modding your 350z".
Good luck!

A less expensive option is going TN single turbo, easy to install (they claim it can be done within 10 hrs), good warranty, good performance which matches the 350Z, both having good "bang for the buck". You could add nice wheels, tires, and a decent suspension for 10K this way.

One thing the 70k buys you with a GTR is originality, there will only be few on the road where as a 350z are a dime a dozen...
Only time i've done FI was with my 2000 prelude, ran me about 8k time I got done putting everything on it. Would of been cheaper if I did the work myself but I don't trust my skills when it comes to installing a supercharger and programing a hondata..
Since then I beleive your better off just buying a car that comes stock with more power then tryting to modify your existing ride.... Less problems and on resale you will lose less money. For 70k a Porsche 911 is looking pretty good also

Personally, how many are on the road does not matter to me. For example, would you pick an ugly girl as a gf because she looks different? I buy what I like, could careless how others think of it. I am not driving a car to impress girls or ricers. It is about what I like.

If you want a good read on comparing turbo kits for 350Z's, get 2005 summer issue of Sport Z Magazine. I wrote an article testing 6 manufacture's turbo kits and TN is included. You can order it online, go to http://www.sportzmagazine.com/

$70,000 for the GTR [
} trust me my freind you will not not get one for that in the first 10 months at least. Every dealer will be adding at least a $10.000 mark up due to demand, example new 500 hp ZO6 vette, They currently going for $80.000/$85.000 price range, retail is $65.000. It's wrong but thats how it is.
for one thing, if you're considering the GT-R, then you must have at least 80,000 to spend.
For that, I'd buy a brand new Z, a spare VQ35DE to build, and the Greddy TT kit, extrude hone the turbos and exhaust manifolds, run a MoTeC engine management system, full OS Giken clutch setup, 3.3 rear gears, and full veilside body kit (among other things) , and after all that I still don't see the cost topping 80k.

I just wish Nissan offered a stock 350TT, then the discussion would be very different. I would prefer to own a smaller 2 seater sportscar personally then a 4 seater GT and love the looks of the Z. Dropping a TT in it from Nissan is the option I like best.
