AND I just got it back from the dealership today and they f***ing lied. they told me they fixed it and it's exactly the same as it was before i brought it in. this is the second time they have avoided fixing it. third time overall. (the other time it was at a different dealership) they are still very crooked and i want them fixed.
Do i have to take it to an independent shop to get this fixed? why does every dealership i take it to avoid fixing it?
anyone know any good dealerships up here in western washington where they will actually help you out??
i think with my luck, someone did kick it. within the first 5 months my Z was spit on 4 f-ing times and someone scratched my hood.
When I had my Nismo installed, the left side was about 3/8" lower than the right, which bugged me bad. I told the guy can't you tweak the left hanger downward so that in turn it will pull it up so it's level with the right one? He kept insisting no it will just do nothing stretch the rubber hanger and will stay the same. Made no sense to me at all.
When I got it home I found a piece of old asphault laying around that wedged in bewteen the bottom/underside of the car and the top of the hanger bracket nicely and I carefully pushed up on the exhaust tip and canister and simply bent it downward and straigthend it out Gee what do you know it worked.
That muffler shop has been in businees since the 1960's and they were convinced there was no way to fix it without unwelding the tip repositioning it and rewelding it back on.
Same place that has replaced the mid pipe gasket 3 times in 4 months now too.
Took all my cars there before and my dad took his cars there when he was younger too.
Nice people but they are batting .500
Time for a new shop.

well mine were almost 1/2 an inch off, i got them to about 1/4 inch off, tried to get them closer but couldnt figure out how, the brackets all line up, my right side had shy under 1" from the bumper gap and the left side shy over 1/2 and inch gap, i thought about taking off the left bracket and putting spacers between the body and the bracket to lower the bracket but i could undue to bolts by hand, so the only other thing i could think of was putting a bolt in the rubber wedge to strech the rubber and the end result was 3/4" gap on the left side and shy under 1" on the rt. its not as noticable anymore but if you really look hard you can tell. i'm not sure what els can be done but put a spacer under the bracket.
My god this thread is old=) Guys its a VERY easy fix. I have a friend who works at a muffler shop and he told me alot of Z guys come in with the same problem. This is what you do.......put your foot in the tip thats crooked or higher, then hop on it with all your weight, it might sound scary but you wont break anything. After he did this to mine(it took him like 5 seconds) it came down perfectly, now both tips are aligned the same.

Wow...This is an old thread. That's my car up there. I actually took it to a muffler shop around 6 months ago to get it fixed. They heated up the tip and pulled it down. It was a temporary fix, it's started to work it's way back up again. Now it looks like my whole muffler and tip is crooked. WTF?

Don't be scared, put some back into it. It'll bend down with enough force. I was a little scared at first but it worked. Maybe I didnt explain myself right, you must place your foot inside the tip and jump up and down with all your weight, basically the tip must be supporting all your weight (your other foot must not be touching the ground) while you jump on it, it'll bend.
