I don't have a problem getting into 1st when it's cold. The transmission in general is much notchier until it warms up but that's normal for most cars.

If it's really cold, I turn the car on, kick into neutral, pop in a CD, wait about 2 mins and then go. The car warms up quicker if you let it sit initially. There was also something about the magic "2 minute warmup".

60 second warm up works well for me. If you put it into neutral, your spinning the gears through the oil and working that oil that sat overnight. This does two things: 1) lubes the gears really good. 2) Heats up the oil a bit so that it is thinner and allows for the smoother shift.

This has been true in all of my manual shift cars in the winter.

Mine does this but only for 5th gear... thought I had the dreaded syncro issue but if warm no issue... i just have to double clutch and rev 5th and no grind until warm.

When I had issues getting into gear when cold the culprit was the clutch slave cylinder. Not sure if yours are the same issue.
