Angry A Tree Hit me -Xmas Tree to be specific!!!!

My first thread on this forum and it a bad one! I just picked up a 05 Yellow AE edition Z and have less then 1400 miles on it!

I was driving down a two lane road in queens new York. I reached the tip of a hill and right there was a xmas tree in the middle of the street with the bottom of the tree facing me and WHAM! the lower part of the bumper under the grill is cracked down the middle ..the grill got busted and I see the radiator is also bent! I wasn’t going more then 40 mph !

so my questions. Will the bumper need replacing? Can my Yellow be duplicated to match the car exactly! And would the radiator. need replacing? Can the warranty help me out? Can anyone also recommend a good dealer to go to with this issue in the NYC area?

This video reminds me of what happened to me. not this severe but you get the idea .

Tell your insurance company it fell off a truck and hit you. If you tell them you hit a stationary object, expect your rates to go up. Warranty? Unless your eyes and reaction time are covered under warranty, don't think Nissan can help you here. If you bent your radiator, yes, it will likely need replacing, because when they try to straighten it, it might get a hole or two in it. And yes, the bumper should be replaced, and the color will be hard to match, just send it to a good shop and see how close they can get.

First your Nissan Warranty wont do **** for you....
A good body shop will be able to match the paint finish 100% regardless of wheather they fix your current bumper or get a new oem one.
As for the actuall damages, only someone with expirience in that field will be able to tell you whats salvagable, and at what price.
Goodluck,

All brakes squeal, all the time. you hear it more with some than others. My folks volvo's do it and its "normal" (Even after servicing/changing the pads)

Does anyone know of a CHrome or carbon fiber lip that will just cover the lower part of the front bumper? Just under the grill ..not covering the entire bumper but just the section under the grill. TIA

if the radiator works fine you might want to consider paying out of pocket for a NEW bumper about $300 plus paint/ labor ...

it could be cheaper than having your insurance go up.

even if it doesnt it will still be on your record as colision claim.
then if something worse happens youll have problems

I was thinking about using that cf finisher to cover it all up then deal with this body shop crap.. ive had bad experiances with them not matching paints ..i love this yellow and it would kill me if the paint didnt match.

I have no pics of the damage yet..

I have an Ultra Yellow and had to get my A-pillar molding replaced after it was damaged during a windshield replacement. The glass company bought a pre-painted molding from one of the local Nissan dealers here and it matched perfectly. I'm not sure if you'd be able to do the same thing with a whole front bumper, but it it might be worth looking into.

But yeah, a good body shop should be able to match the paint close enough that you'll be happy with it. I probably wouldn't alter the basic appearance with CF or a new front faschia if I had an Anniversery Edition Z, it kind of defeats the purpose of buying one in the first place.
