Default Burning Smell???

I have had my '05 Touring Roadster for about 2 weeks now and it has a burning smell coming from it. (Like burning rubber) I have had it into the dealer twice and they told me that it was a plastic bag that had got melted to something underneath the car. But I can still smell it even now (2 weeks) later - wouldn't the bag have burned off by now? Should I take it to another dealer for a second opinion? Has anyone had this odd problem???

How many miles are on your car? It may be the smell of new headers burning in if you don't have more than 10,000 miles, the smell can be strong.
*SNIFF* MMM MM, I love the smell of fresh new headers burning in. Too bad I now have over 13,000 miles. The smell is fading away.

yye..it'll take a while for the smell to go away. It happened to my old car and it tooks weeks and weeks for it to go away. Try and scraping some off like what Jorge Antonio Banderas said.

it is brand new (only has a few dealership miles) but I was worried because the smell is very strong and fills the garage when I park it. Everything seems to be working - it just has that smell and I was worried. Thanks for the info.

The last new vehicle I owned (not a Nissan) had a big rubber band laying
loose in the engine bay, it ended up on the header pipe, melting and
smelling until I found it using a flashlight....

Default don;'t worry

like some one said up there.
If it is a brand new, u will smell the burning rubber for while.

One time was racing with some one when my z had only 4000 miles on it.
After i slow down, i smell the burning smell.

I thought my z had a problem. but now i don;t smell anything.
my z is now about 8000. it is cuz u have new header. =)

I had that problem the other day and realised my lab was claiming my z by peeing on hot brakes!

I got a plastic bag caught on the midpipe when my car was 2 days old. I scraped an scraped but the smell stayed around (the plastic gets very hard and black). Bought a new Nismo exhaust so it doesn't bother me anymore, but I sure do watch out for plastic bags now!

I have it the other day, with 22.000 km's when I parked in the garage.
Not a plastic bag, but I did hang on the throttle on a windy road to home the last miles. In my case it was the brakes activated by the VDC.

it might possibly be the asphalt/rubber insulation that they use on the firewall... or the heated seats if you turned that on?

I have it too.. I'm at 6K... thought it was normal
