Spacer! Best sleeper mod and you don't have to worry about the exhaust becoming louser or emissions.

yes, the 5/16 spacer fits perfect with the oem strut bar. They also have the 1/2 spacer but, ur going to need to replace the strut bar. The power difference between 1/2 and 5/16 spacer is minor. 1-1.5 hp gain which is nothing! U can save a lot of $ with the 5/16 cause u wont have to sacrifice the oem strut bar.

Cool

hey i've been reading all of the post in this thread and i'm interested in the spacer mod..
The stock Z intake plenum (the big aluminum thing on top of the engine under the black cover) has a "design flaw" which starves the front two cylinders of air. By installing a spacer between the top and bottom halves of the plenum, this restriction is eliminated.

I installed the Motordynamics 5/16" spacer (with the isothermal kit which keeps the plenum cooler), and noticed a big difference in how the car ran. On my butt dyno it picked up a noticeable increase in power all across the rpm band, expecially above 3000 rpm. The engine is much happier at high rpm now, and the intake sound has gotten a little more agressive. All in all I believe it to be a great mod, and not difficult at all to install if you are at all handy with tools. Did it cut half a second off my 1/4 mile times? Heck no, but the car is more fun to drive now!

Spacers usually run between $180 and $220.

I've never really been a big fan of engine mods due to their minimal gains, but I think that I'm going to give the MD spacer a try.

I don't mean to grave dig threads but I got a few questions.

Is the MREV 2 lower collector wich is on the motordyne site worth it?

Also, why does it say i should get the Copper spacer if it ever snows in my area? Just wondering because I usually get a good amount of snow here in NoVA durring winter time and my Z will be my daily driver.

And also, while im here, I have an exhaust question. If I'm looking for more power, then should i go for a whole exhaust system, or should I just get test pipes. How much whp and im approximately going to gain from test pipes? How much will I gain with a whole system (besides headers). If youre suggestions are to get the whole system, what size is best if im choosing to keep my Z N/A.

What about for sound? Is there a big sound diffrence between the OEM exhaust+test pipes and a aftermarket catback+testpipes?

The spacer will yield more power, but test pipes are awesome. How long did you have your test pipes? Eventually they dont smell as bad, and if you had small particles coming out of your exhaust and fly into your car that means the inside of the muffler is wearing out.

Ok I read the sticky of common questions and now I know the answer to my mrev2 qeustion. So no need to answer that one. Now wat about the exhaust?

I think the most restrictive part of this exhaust are the stock cats. There are 4 stock catalytic converters and in all honesty, I hate em all.

I would recommend getting test pipes or HFC. Once you feel you need a little bit more power and a nicer sound, get a cat-back system. There are many to choose from, some are single piping or true dual. Some are single muffler or dual mufflers. You can also mix and max various brands of y-pipes, test pipes, HFC's and exhaust systems with one another for a signature sound.

Whatever your choice may be, I would suggest going out to any meet and hearing other owners exhaust systems first hand and then deciding.

Did that help?
