Let's talk Service...
Part of every car purchase is the decision to purchase extended service for coverage of your vehicle. This of course will add to the bottom line car cost so I want to make sure I make the right decision in choosing a service plan. I like the idea of full and complete service! I'm wondering what comes with a Nissan car traditionally and how extensive / reliable their service offerings are. I reviewed their website and found it to be a bit confusing.

I personally am not going to buy any extended service plan, it's a big waste of money unless you think there's going to be major problems. If you calculate the rates vs. what you get, the edge is far in favor of the dealership.
If you're worried about it, consider an aftermarket extended warranty from a third party or something.
I had an extended service plan w/ my 99 Mercury Cougar and while it was convenient never having to pay for an oil change, I paid way too much for them when calculated out...

Extended warranties don't usually cover maintenance. I do all of my own maintenance and most repairs so I don't have any need for an extended warranty. I don't like inexperienced techs fumbling around with my cars if I can help it.
I used to think of warranties in general as a ripoff. They cost alot and you never seem to need them until they are used up. I was talking to a friend of mine who sells cars and he buys extended warranties on his vehicles. He seemed to think they were worth it which is surprising to me since he knows the ins and outs of the business and he knows how to work on cars. He did say that the 3rd party warranties suck. He only buys manufacturer warranties.
Personally, I'd rather save the money and put it towards the repairs that will eventually be needed. People think it's safer to buy a warranty but don't think about the risk of failure just outside of warranty. Then you have to pay for the repair and warranty.
