Black is hard to keep clean, I wash it like 3 or sometimes 4 times a week. I see dust, time to wash! I also wax it a buff it once in a while, when I start to see swirls. I hate it that 1 hour after I spent 3 hours detailing I can see dust again.

But 90% of the time I can perfectly see the sky reflected on my car.

Black will shine 500 times more than any color. It looks awesome, and it turns heads when clean. But again, good luck trying to keep it clean!!

I think I've owned just about every major color car there is...black,dark- blue, white, silver, red, maroon, etc...etc and my silverstone z is BY FAR the easiest car to keep clean. My prelude was silver and it was easy to keep clean also.

White isn't bad but one thing that always happened after the first rain...black streaks from where I put protectant on all the black rubber trim pieces.

IMO, if your looking for a more unique colored z...yet easy to keep clean...try the le mans sunset. Like daytona blue...it's not as common as silverstone or silver yet it would be much easier to keep clean than db. Only problem is they can be a bit hard to find.

well..since some of you saying i wasn't fair when compare the 2 DB and PPW. Here are few other shot that both color car modified with the same body kit.

PPW:

DB:

Bottom line, if you don't care about your car and willing to let it get dirty please don't get the Z (regardless of color).

How is PPW the easiest to keep clean? I have to wash the car after each time it rains. I go out of the country very often for a few days at a time and EACH time I come back it is so disgusting I can't drive it till its clean. I almost regret the PPW decision.

you must not use the right wax/protectant. if it rains and i dont drive it until it dry out, then my car looks like it never rained to begin with. now, if your talking about driving around in the rain then thats a whole different matter. any color car is gonna look dirty after driving around in the rain. I still wash my car at least once a week no matter what.

I own a 2006 black Acura TL. It is my first black car. I park in my garage every night. I wax with Zainos, 2 layers now, going to do one more. I have only washed it once since I got it about 4 weeks ago. What I do is, after every drive, I do a quick dusting with my trustee california duster, which is a must for a dark colored car. Twice a week, before I take my car out of the garage, I cali dust of course, then put on a quick Z-6 gloss spray from Zainos with a micro fiber towel. So far, my Black has never been outside dirty at all. BEN

I doubt that's as good for the paint as if you washed it once a week. Might want to use a clay bar on yours since I'm sure a whole bunch of "impurities" might've built up.

I have a DB and I wash it once a week. It is very hard to keep clean. Where I park at work, there's a whole bunch of trees that drop pollen on my car like no other. Even after one day after having washed my car, there's a bunch of pollen on it that's noticeable. Not to mention the rock chips on the front bumper

Most of yall are garaging your cars, I am not. As far as rock chips go, wont the rock chips be more noticed on the DB then the White??

Like i said i will prob. wash the car every 3-4 weeks, Not saying that i will keep it dirty, if it gets way too out of hand then yes i will wash it.

Black, of course, with red being a close second.

As everyone else seems to be advising as well, PPW would be easier to maintain than DB, especially since yours will be parked outdoors.

Definetly not Black, and as a PPW owner, not that either. I wipe my car down everyday and car covered when at work. Trust me, it looks dirty after a 30 min. commute. I'd say go for a shade of silver or grey.

+1! Swirl marks come from improper washing, not driving. Wash by hand, use micro-fiber towels, and multiple coats of Zaino or your polish (not wax) of choice. PPW will not show rock chips as much. And please, wash it more than once a month

There are two things you can do to keep a black (or other dark color) car clean and looking great between washes.

First, get a car duster like the California Car Duster or the OXO equivalent. Used properly, these will easily remove day to day dust accumulation and will not scratch or create swirls. I dust the car sometimes twice a day, once in the morning and again when I arrive home from work. Only takes two or three minutes to do the whole car.

Second, get a good quick detailer and a soft microfiber cloth. Great for removing bugs, tree sap, bird droppings (very important), fingerprints and water spots. Just dampen the towel and spray directly on the offending area.

With these two things, my car looks freshly washed after a full week.
