As for RX-8. I tried to convince a friend not to get one to no avail. Now he regrets the little torque the car has.

im so lucky i had a friend talk me out of a RX8 before I bought my Z. I had a 98 LS1 SS, he said I would cry if drove RX8. He is really into cars so I took his suggestion and went with the Z. I've been in love ever since and havent looked back.

nissan has those commmericals "shift" or the "A to Z" ones. They tried but in comparison to the other company's no. Nissan doesn't need too much advertising compared to others. And I do agree that the lesser Z's out there, the better.

350z sales
Hiya all,
You should check out www.automobear.com as it has accurate sales info for all cars up through January 2006. I am having difficulty finding it but I read an article recently (2005 sometime) that said that the Z car was the best selling sports car of all time (1.5 million sold?).

guess what...a friend tried to talk me into buying the RX8, he said the Mazda has a better interior and a 8000rpm rotory engine. i personally don't buy a car because of a plush interior...i buy it for everyday driveability and low low maintainence. my 03 is one hell of a low maintainence and reliable vehicle..lol

Good point!
But I think we're WAAAAAaaaaaaaaaay beyond that by now. This car's got one of the most crazy aftermarket support arsenals ever, racked up in the two plus year it's been around.

I don't want it to be the best selling sports car on one hand because I like the uniqueness (and here in IN it's pretty unique, ) but on the other hand anything that will encourage Nissan to continue producing these fine automobiles is a good thing if you ask me, haha.

Per http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=18201 (and other sources), over 8 million Mustangs have been sold.

I'm not sure who keeps perpetuating the myth that the Z is the best selling sports car but I've seen the same myth in other threads here over and over.

^It really depends on what one considers a sports car. I am with those that say the Z is the best selling sports car in history. I have also read this, though at this time I cannot remember where.
Mustangs, Firebirds, Covettes, etc. are muscle cars, not sports cars. By classification, they are a 2+2 car which does not 'technically' constitute a sports car.
Again, thats all in perspective.
