Default any previous sti owners here?

i have a sti right now but i really want a 350z.
i drove my friends 06 base 350 and its nice but i didnt really get to drive it that much, only for about 5 mins.

any input from previous owners would be nice.

i drive 80 miles a day, and on a full tank i can go 250 miles. iam thinking a 350 would be a better daily driver?

i am looking to buy a 05 enthusiast with very low miles. my 04 sti right now has 42000 miles.

what do you guys think, time for a switch?

if you are looking for practicality (4 doors) then sti might be a better choice for you. remember, you cant haul much in a Z. it depends on how you use the car and what you use the car for. i dont know if the ride is harsher on a sti than a Z but i use my Z as a daily driver and im fine with it. i dont haul much things and i dont take a bunch of people with me. but drive the Z and see which you like better. as far as gas mileage goes, i get about 20 in city and 26 on hwy. i have 06 enth

+1 to above ^^ Depends on what you need it for.. I use my Z as a daily driver and it's perfect since I don't like dragging around more than 1 person at a time and I don't need much room for luggage or stuff in the car. I drive 60 miles a day to and from work. I only average 22-23 mpg on mostly freeway driving though.

I don't know how much you are into performance mods, but the Z does not respond as well to mods as the STI does.

yeah daily driving with a 50/50 mix of freeway and city on my 03' Z i average just under 22mpg, and i drive with a pretty heavy foot...

I didn't want a rear seat since my friends would always want to take my car

I'm in the process of talking one of my buddies into G so we can always take his ride haha

I owned a highly modded 04 Evo VIII and went to an 06 GT coupe. I like the transition. It definately isn't as fast, but I think over all the car is more fun to drive. I like the feel of rwd and a 2 seater cockpit. I've got a few boltons on the way and I think the car will be a lot of fun once I get it the way I want it.

I went back and forth over the evo and the Z and choose the z although performance /evo's /sti takes it of the line from a roll its a lil diffrent. the Z's looks and sex appeal won me over plus for some reason, it just felt better to drive. Every once in a while, i think to my self damn i should have got the evo or sti but thats only when i see snow out side.

I've had 2 350z' and an STI. I honestly prefered the STI overall. The Z is pretty fun to drive but not a comfortable as the STI. I have an Ultra Yellow enthusiast now once I sell it I think Im either going to go back to the STI or maybe an Evo.

I get about 25 MPG in mine. But with only 2 doors it may not be practical for ya.

I own 350Z and I've driven Sti and Evo b4. Honestly, I really would like to trade my 350Z on Evo, but not Sti. I don't know why, but Evos are just.....I can't explain it. There is also big pain in the *** with seats in 350Z
So, try Evo9 and try 350Z. But don't get stuck with your Sti.

Where I live there is only one STI, [blue] so any time I see it coming down the road I completely stop and watch it go by, I love my Z don't get me wrong but there are plenty of Z's here [none modded] so I barely notice them but an STI is a treat to see when you rarely get to see one like me.

I just traded my silver 04 STI for the 350z touring (6speed). I miss the 1st gear of the STI but thats it. After 1st gear the cars are the same up to top speed. The 350z is a much nicer ride all across the board. I recomend one.

i've also wondered if i made the right choice in getting a z, after i got one, i really wanted an STI, mainly because you could get so much power out of it without having to spend too much money. But in the end, i was glas i bought the Z, great gas mileage for a v6 and killer looks, not very practical to haul things around in though.....

I parted out my TXS Stage 4 02 WRX a week or two ago and am trying to purchase Touring Z this weekend or next. I had 04 STi seats in the WRX, and actually prefer the Touring/GT leather seats to the blue STi alcantra ones. Like almost everyone has said, both the STi and Z are great cars, but if ever there was an apples to oranges comparison, this would be it.

Lastnight i raced 2 STi's and 2 WRX's all were about the same speed. (prob around 30more HP then a stock STi, i took every single 1 of them at the end of my 1st gear. i LOVE sti's(my friend just got one) but now i woudln't take one. Oh and YES i know with like 1 grand into that motor it would beat me, but not alot of STi's are that modded. most are somewhat stock. like EVERYBODY says, its hard to compare them because thier completly different, its more what you need the car for.
