Default Question for 6MT owners after 1200

What did you guys/gals set your up-shift indicator to after the break-in period?

The manual says for maximum engine speed set it to 6,600rpm and for maximum engine torque set to 4,800rpm and if you don't care set it to 7,200.

I set mine to 6,600 but I am interested to find out what everyone else set theirs to.

To give me some reaction time, I set it at 6200 rpm. Hand eye coordination is a little slower at 35 years old. I tried 6400 but hit the rev limiter a couple times.

I set 6000 because I often keep pulling after the red light. All it does is set the rpm where the red light starts flashing. For me, it's sort of a snooze alarm that I usually note as a reminder: "time to shift coming up soon".

I have mine at 6000 also. I kept hitting redline when power shifting out of first. 6000 seems to give me a little more margin for error.

And yes, the Z does have a rev-limiter... Mine kicks in at around 7300.

I see your MT Z did 0-60 in 6.5sec. Well I did mine in 6.3 no brake torque on my AT Z

5800. I've noticed that I didn't pay enough attention to how fast the needle was moving, and I used to occasionally hit the limiter. Now that it's at 5800, I can just punch it and still have about the right time to hit max HP and/or torque.

Damn, I feel like a wuss. I've never taken mine off 4,000 RPM, since I always shift at 3500 RPM.

Moved mine to 6200. With the 500rpm warning with the flashing red this works perfectly for me.

Default I don't use it myself

I just glance at the tach.....and I am almost at the point where I can judge from engine noise when I am approaching 4k

Yeah, I find myself shifting without looking at the tach without shifting sometimes. It's not that hard, since after 4,000 RPM, the engine starts to get much louder.

Since I'm REALLY old, I've kept mine set at 4000.

Oh, Yah, I really like the red light!
