i would get the 06' as far as mods go, good or bad, the 287 is past and 300 is now and future so there will be many more mods available.. and you get many/ most of the previous year problems corrected.. and you can more thAn make up and exceed the previous torque.
get 06 if ya can
ORRR
try test driving both at same time .. see what you like

The 06 is a better buy.. First of all you know if you buy it new no one has been ******* it.. Second there are many little improvements that it comes with.. It responds better to mods.. All you need right off the bat is the MREVplus kit from Moterdyne and you gain at least 15-20 hp to the wheels and 15-20 rwtq, DYNO PROVEN! Also the wheels on the previous years aside from track and 35th are kinda fugly IMO.

The 06 is a wayyyyy better car... the 03 tends to have problems such as transmission issues as well as tire feathering

Just and FYI....If you find an 03 thats still under warranty, and you do have problems with the tranny, you can get a new transmission under warranty.

Yeah, but why gamble on a possible trip to the transmission shop?

I think everyone here agrees when I say that Z separation anxiety sux.

IMO..stick to the 04-06, but if all you can get is an 03...well, you're not gonna hate it, that's for sure.

The 06 is the "safest" bet for reliability, warranty, etc..

If I had my pick I'd go for an 05 w/ the revup engine. I'm not terribly impressed with the new tailights and the interior changes in the 06 are minor enough that I can deal with the 05 interior. Plus the extra weight (~200lbs?) of the 06's just fattens a fat pig further. Say that 5x fast.

True..its a gamble....but I have seen more than once that an 04 and 05 have gone in for a tranny warranty as well...though maybe not as many 03s....but in terms if probability and a gamble, you do have a very valid point.

What's your redline? That'll tell you.

If it's 7000 then you have the 300hp "revup".

If it's 6600ish then you have the 287hp.
