Default I never understood the "knee cushion" thing in the 04.5 models and up. Any1 explain?

Im in the market for a Z and I was told to get the 2004.5 model because the tranny issues seem to have been worked out. People keep telling me to look for the knee cushion or something like that to make sure its a 2004.5 model or up. I tried looking at pics but I still have absolutely NO idea what everyone is talking about...Can someone clarify this for me, and if possible, send a pic? Thanks

On each sides of the center console, there is a small cushion for your knees. I'll get a picture and post it...

Yes, drivers side is the same. I'm pretty sure the 04.5 look like mine. Thanks for the comments. BTW, the knee pads will be Burnt Orange to match the rest of the interior soon.

is it just me or do those pads do absolutely nothing. My knees are nowhere close to those pads. Do you have to sit really close or something?

buzzardmountain: Where did you go, and what did you have to buy to get your iPod there. I've been looking for a good way to hardwire mine into the Z.

If you are tall your knees are on the pads. I am 6' 4" and my knees are there all the time.

I don't remember the Kenwood part # right off, but it connects to the CD changer input in the back of the Kenwood head unit.

The distance from the accelerator to the knee pad is 11-inches. I estimate that you have to be 4-feet 6-inches tall to touch your knee to the pad.

You always crack me up with your reply Davidv

Yeah, my knees are nowhere near that pads either. Unless I sit cross-legged...

my kind of woman... Im 6'3"... and yes, I use the pad all the time, mostly for cruising though. It's nice to just kick back and lean my leg against the pad. One feature I really like
