wrecked tonight :(
There are only 2 possibilties here at only 25-30mph. 1; you hit an oil slick that was quite large to allow the car to continue forward far enough to do 2 360's. 2: And this is the more likely one; you were going much faster than 25-30 mph. There is simply no way on dry ground that the car would have enough momentum to carry it through 2 360's.

i know for a fact i wasnt going much faster than that.
the speed limit on that road it 40. and through that turn it posts a 25mph recommended sign.
my radar had been going off before that and i was keeping it at the speed limit bc i didnt want a ticket.

Man this is really strange. I agree with raceboy that on dry roads there wouldn't be enough oomph to get around 2 360s. There must have been something in the road. The only other thing that makes sense would be if the VDC was off/malfuncitoning and you were at full throttle doing a power slide though the spins, but you have already stated this was not the case. It must be aliens
I am really surprised at the damage to the suspension at such a low speed. If you were at 20-30 going into the spins, after 2 revs, I would guess your impact speed to the curb was not that fast.
Good luck with your repairs.

JEez! TWO threesixties?!
yea. no way you can do that at 45, unless you were hitting the gas instead of the brake pedal when you initiated the spins...
if i were you. i'd make sure the car was "totalled' i.e. frame damage, you dont want to drive a car that's been thru that damage.
r u sure there wasnt any loose gravel or something in the road?
its hard to believe all that spinning, even with a 4th to 2nd at 40 mph...
but at 40 mph, your rpms should be around 4000, since redline in 2nd should be around 65mph...
you should take a look at your skid marks and measure the length. and try to do some analysis of how fast you really were going. also. was it a 90degree turn or just a gradual sweeper?
sorry to hear about your crash.
makes that dent you got 13 days ago look a little minor?

Have you gone back to check out the accident site? My 1st guess
would have been oil slick (as mentioned above).
How about sideways moving water? I hit some on a freeway one time at about 60mph and it had me doing donuts (in a Z32-TT) - EXTREMELY lucky, with no injuries and only minor dent to door (from knocking down a sign pole). Had my knees shaking tho.

Having come from an S2000 and kinowing some of the problems people had with them under similar conditions, I feel fairly certain he was a victim of cold tires.
One of the real racers totaled his first S2000 when they first came out in the Chicago area in the winter. He had only driven a mile or two when he entered an on rap at what he thought was a very reasonable speed and lost it.
Due to the cold snap that is spreading across the South, I doubt this will be the only wreck we hear about.
Summer high performance tires are like bricks until they get warmed up.
The fact that he shifted from 4th to 2nd tells me he was in a driving mode and although his speed was below normal it still was too much for the cold tires to handle.

I don't know much about cold tires, but that makes sense. My area (Louisiana) is part of that cold front, and people have been having a lot of wrecks lately. Just in the last two days there have been two accidents on my street, only about 8/10ths of a mile apart. I think both accidents were fatalities. In one of the accidents a lady was killed when her truck turned over, and the day before, I saw a car that must have turned over, as it was flat as a pancake. Makes me slow down when I'm coming home. I'm glad that you were able to walk away from your accident.
Dude, I am sorry to hear about your car going out of control like that.....I know how you feel trying to get control of the car at those brief seconds.....I had two Fishtail incident in my car since I got it in Oct....Once when I drove thur a unavoidable mud puddle...I did not realize how slippery it was until gas it a bit and the rear just shook out of control for a brief 2 seconds that felt like a eternity......Second time it happen was at a stop light, punch it to 4k rpm trying to get on a freeway ramp but the road a was bit bumpy and a curve turn to the ramp....Almost lost control on both incidents doing a 180 degree spin.....To Z owners drive safely....
That really sucks. Same thing happened to me one night in my old car. It was about 50 degrees out and no rain at all. I was turning at about 35-40mph when the car broke loose and I did two 360's and ended up in a ditch. Got out and looked around to see what could have caused it. Low and behold, there was one of the metal storm drain covers on the ground. Why the hell would they put one of those in the middle of a turn??? Those things are slick as hell. Anyways, you might have slipped on one of those.
Also, when your car breaks loose like that, no kind of computer intervention can save you.

Moroccan_Mole,
Sorry to hear that. Just saw your car in perfect condition last Saturday. I just read other thread about folks having trouble with the cold tire, https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=17439,
not sure that was one of the many contributors.
