He's right they are more efficent. Don't forget that was one the benefits of a turbo car. To get the power and better gas mileage from using the exhaust to spin the turbo for power and compression of the intake air. So, what your are using is a by product to help the engine breathe etc.....

My best was 29.9mpg with my Iridium plugs, Synthetic oil and Popcharger @ a 72mph for three trips of over 1000miles so far.

Prior to that my best was 28mpg without the Iridiums. On that tank I got 504miles and took on 18gals at fill up. I just wanted to break the 500 miles per tankful to prove myself it could be done. Your only going to get this type of mileage on straight stretches of road IMHO. Mine doesn't get as good of mileage at 68mph as it does at 72mph. 72mph seems to be the magic number. I have 17inch Base wheels and air the tires up to 38psi when I take these long staight drives. I don't acceleration fast at all and try to keep the speed very steady. I do not have cruise control in my car.

Don't forget the actual mileage statement for our cars is:

17 & 23 mileage in the city or an avg of 20mpg city.
22 & 30 mileage on the highway or an avg of 26 highway.

So, with that I was feeling pretty good at 28mpg before the plugs.
Now, with the plugs hitting 29.9mpg for over 1000 miles and hitting 30.1 mpg about 300 miles into one of my trips I am feeling pretty good.

This also was with my Colgan Bra/G35 Spoiler installed. This is enough drag to drop the miles a couple of tenths for the Colgan bra and the down force the rear spoiler adds. I hope my mileage get even better as the motor breaks in more. I have 12,5XX miles on her and I don't think she is at her peak yet.

BTW - I have recorded some mileage as high as 33.4mpg on trips of less than 50miles or so. But, in trips of over 50miles there is always a hill some curves rough roads, grades or something to mess the mileage up.

My dte is way off. I can fill up the tank and look at the dte and it will indicate 485. I will set one of my trip indicators to zero and by the time the tank is on empty my trip will indicate 350 or so. Something is just not adding up, or maybe it's my dte indicator. Has anyone else had this type of issue???

Low to mid 300s. My tank only holds 18 gallons. I'm going to Vegas next weekend. I'll try to get 800 if I can.

DTE is very inaccurate. It seems to average the past few miles of driving in order to figure out the miles left. However, it obviously has no way to incorporate your current, or future driving style. My DTE usually starts at about 400, I get about 330 miles per tank of mixed freeway/city driving (about 75% freeway actually). I've made it from San Jose to LA one one tank before (400 miles). With all city driving, like I did last year, I got somewhere between 150-200 miles per tank. That sucked.

You can get a 999 miles per gallon number if you hit the reset button while you're in neutral going down a steep hill.

Try it.

I'm lucky if I get around 230-250 until I hit the 3/4 mark. I do alot of city driving so I guess that's my problem.

I think that my gas mileage is really crappy even for intown driving. I had my a/f ratio checked and it was ok. I just cleaned my JWT and inflated all my tires to 35psi.

Any other suggestions?

Bingo! Except I think it uses a running average of the miles (per mile) accumulated versus speed and fuel consumption to estimate the DTE.

Additionally, when the Z is low on fuel the DTE will show up as null - miles that cannot be accounted for with the use of a DTE meter.

I average about 315 miles per tank and refill around the 15 gallon mark ( 315 mi / 15 G = 21 MPG ) with mixed city and highway driving.

'Course, I drive around in 5th when I'm on surface streets.
