that is why it is called an emergency brake. You use it in an emergency (and other forms of driving). If it didn't brake while the car is moving, it wouldn't be of much help in an emergency. Not really rocket science.

When aproaching a red light going 160km/hr, rip the e brake up and try and stop on the line, great game

I always thought that it was called a parking brake...

Anyways like mentioned, if its anything like my car the parking brake barely holds my car in place when sitting still let alone slow a 3200lbs car going any speed...

No, I actually do not see what is so hard to udnerstand. But I was asking because I tried it but only a little bit and nothing happened but the car did slow down. I'm assuming I gotta yank that sucker up with full strength for any "sudden" effect, heh. Terrible question. Lock and discard. :]

Nissan calls it a parking brake. NOT an emergency brake. Just try and stop using the parking brake.

It's less than worthless in an emergency.

See, apparently it doesn't work. So there! :P hehe...

I only asked because the other day I was going down a street and a friend jumped in front of me... my passenger was like pull the e-brake on him... I was like no, what if it doesn't work... and seriously... It barely holds my car on my driveway...

You might just need to adjust the brake. There was a pretty good discussion about adjusting the emergency/parking brake in this thread. Also here is the section from the service manual regarding the adjustment (image posted by westpak) from that thread:

Anyone2u, been there, done that, and they still don't do sh*t for stopping 3300 lbs. Z. Do a test. Try stopping your Z with the parking brake. Just be sure you leave a LOT of room!
