If you say you "prefer manual", just get the manual. Pasadena is pretty flat (easy driving/parking, not "hilly" like SF), especially if you're saying you want to get the 35th Anniversary edition.
I mean, unless your mom is planning on driving it (moms, for one reason or another, won't drive stick). Ah, who cares, then. Get whatever you want. You're going to modify the car anyway, right?
[ btw, my apologies to the moms that DO drive stick ]

Oh well she just went around the block before she was tired of driving a stick lol
My dad usually could careless about a car (atleast since he was younger), he is one of those point a to b type of people now. The Z is the first car that I have ever owned that he wanted to drive and he could not stop going on and on about how much he liked it.

LMAO Good thread guys. I feel for you on the AT deal I have one. I drive about 30k each year in NASTY as rush hour DC traffic. Manuals are fun but if you have to get an auto... it's what you have to do. As far as mods I have a buddy that has an AT with a turbonetics single Turbo and another with a Twin both can hang with the MT guys. It depends on the driver really.... have fun with your new car but careful even though it will be an auto it can and will get away from you if you push it too hard.

My first Z was an 03 Enthusiast w/auto and now my 35th AE is manual. For casual and traffic driving then auto is definitely perferred but I love launch myself from light to light and for that manual is definitely the way to go. Of course like mentioned by others, if you like auto then stick with auto but if you can handle stick then get one. I converted from always driving auto to manual and now I am hooked.
