Make sure the gas cap is on tight. A loose cap could cause the SES light.

I'd be carting it striaght back to the dealership, then and if it turns out to be anything other than something simple like loose gas cap, be demanding my money back. Risky enough buying used, but when that happens, it makes you distrust the car and the dealership and the whole experience can just be ruined for you. I hope they make it right. Keep us posted.

Ok so did you check the code yourself and how. My light came on 4 days ago went the dealer they are booked till the 17th, the service writer [a woman] told me to tighten the gas cap and the light would go out by it's self if the cap was the problem. This sounded weird for I've never heard a code clearing itself. Well the light is still on of course, I have noticed the exhaust smell is different lately.
