Default 3 weeks after tranny swap, grinding again

Alright, I've searched and am well aware of all the probs people are having with their transmissions. I had mine factory replaced three weeks ago due to a grind in 5th gear (20k miles). Now my new one, three weeks later is grinding again only in 6th this time (maybe 1500 miles on it). Honestly I have hardly driven it in the past three weeks... and 6th gear! What a joke. Has anybody had the initiative to do something about this? Has anybody contacted Nissan regarding this issue? Perhaps a lawsuit is what they need for a full recall and fix of this problem. What they are doing obviously isn't working. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

my car did the same thing and finally the clutch and flywheel went out @ 52k miles. I was in miami when it happened so I had it fix right away @ a nissan dealership 2500 later, I got my car back and 10 miles down the road my tranny locked up and sent me into the wall on the interstate @ 60mph.... I really suspect that the nissan trannys suck and need to be fixed

My clutch gave out last night while driving on the 5 freeway in california
I was in the fast lane too, so I was stuck 40 minutes away from the dealership.

But apperantly before I bought the car, they had already put in a brand new tranny, which pisses me off, cause I got the car 3 days ago...

I'm on my 4th tranny now. The first transmission was at 3,000 miles due to a 2nd gear grind. The next TWO were both 6th gear grinds, one at 12,700, and the most recent at 26,000 miles. If an aftermarket company would make a set of GOOD synchros for this car, they would make a KILLING.

PS. After 700 miles with the new tranny, I replaced the fluids with redline oil. I would suggest you guys do the same. 1,500 miles on it so far, and no signs of grinding.

i got mine replaced about 2 weeks ago due to crazy grind. the new transmission is very nice, no grinds, little to no transmission noise.

do you know what the part number is for you tranny? the most recent one ends in cd009 and you should get the upgraded clutch with the repair as well.

this is from another thread titled "latest on transmission replacement"

Alright guys, this is how it is supposed to now work. 5year/60K warranty on trans. IF the trans is jacked up, the dealer SHOULD replace it with a 32010-CD009 and a new clutch disc 30100-CD019. This is done free of charge by Nissan without you needing to buy anything else in the process. No pedal assy anymore, no pressure plate or flywheel.... but there are exceptions and we have replaced flywheels/pressure plates on a few cars. We always recommend going to a Nismo or JWT flywheel at that time as it will aid in the shifting of the car, but you don't need to. That is your option. Many people don't like the added trans noise with aftermarket flywheels.

How is it that some people have problems with thier tranny's, and others dont??? I have a 05 base model that I've had about a year now, and Ive ocasionally dropped the clutch at 3500, fly through the gears, and do high speed runs, and Ive yet to have a single problem! None at all! What the hell are you guys doing to be going through so many transmissions!

***flame suit on*** i'm naked under the suit so be careful

i dont know but some of you may nned to relearn how to drive stick, why would some of you keep having so many problems with your tranny. i find it had to belief that 3+ trannies would be bad .

it could be because of bad driving or really crappy dealerships. but damn

I completely agree with you. I mean c'mon! This is my first manual car, and I've had a few accidental grinds and mis-shifts, but now I've got it down to 2nd nature and the tranny is still holding strong! I think some people need to re-learn how to drive stick,(oops, previous poster alredy stated that, but I'm repeating it!) and yes, I'm saying this without a flame suit on! knocks on wood! LOL

Have you had problems as well? What year is your Z? I just dont understand how some transmissions can be luckier than others. I refuse to believe that, it just does'nt make sense! If one tranny came off the build line with problems unnoticed, most likely they would all have problems as well, and thats not the case.

i would just like you guys to remember those posts, perhaps save them for future reference, so that when one of your trannies go, you can read that. I dont have a problem shifting cars, and with about the 20 cars i have owned, would you care to guess how many have had tranny grinds...1!

Ive had a passat vr6 that took a beating, and went to the track far too many times for a car that only ran 16.4! I had a 98 240sx that i turbo'd, raced, drifted and all around beat the living **** out of. I also had an EVO that easily had 300whp, and took over 20k miles of abuse.

With all that being said, the only car that had a tranny grind was my 03 Z with only a pop-charger and a spacer. WOW. It only began to grind, when i thought about taking it to the track.

I now have a new tranny and was wondering why they replaced the clutch also. They didnt tell me they were gonna and i didnt know that there was even a problem. No trouble with it yet, an ive put about 2k miles on it already!

ehh... driving style can be one issue, but most peopel have 3rd gear grind problem. cant be that everyone with 3rd gear grind doesnt know how to drive. the first generation trans are messed up... i had one, and only 3rd gear grinded. every other gear was fine.

But yea... 3 transmissions? people probably learned on the first trans, so there shouldnt be any problems due to driver error. maybe the peopel with repeated transmission problems arent getting the updated one?

here's a 41 page thread of people who have had tranny trouble. Perhaps we all suck at driving, but probably not.

And yes, when the trannies were first being replaced they were not being replaced with the newer 009 tranny as that is relatively new.

i have a gcoupe and im going in for 3rd tranny replacement. trust me i know how to drive a stick. ive driven the crap out of an M3...no problems....drove the crap out of a crazy modded mini cooper. no grinding. my problems are in 5th gear every time. how would i abuse 5th gear? how often do you use it? that would mean im doing 110+ consistantly. not possible. dealer tried to blame it on my clutch. if my clutch was bad it wouldnt just be 5th gear....the tranny sucks ...until the ones that end in 0008 they sucked. maybe the newer ones are "better" but they suck until that one...you guys could get lemon law EASILY with that stuff man
