Default 350Z PopTop Prototype

My job just relocated to a location with an parking lot, instead of a nice sun free parking garage. I was looking for a sun shade when I came across the "California PopTop." The Z wasn't a listed fit yet so I emailed them about what size might fit the Z and they replied with this:

We are currently working on a custom PopTop for the "Z" and expect to have it completed in mid to late Spring 2006. Here is a link to some prototype photos http://capoptop.com/proto-350z.htm . We will save your request and notify you when it is available. Thank you for inquiring.

Regards,

John Allen

The leather Z owners might really benefit from this!!!! Is this going a bit overboard???

what the heck is that? a glorified sheet?

stick with a internal sun shade, harder to steal rip or get blown apart by the wind.

Why would you just want to cover the windows and leave the paint exposed to the harsh sun? Get the OEM car cover. I use it whenever I drive my Z to work; keeps it clean, cool, fits great and stays put, even in some pretty decent wind. Takes just a minute to put on, dries very fast if it gets rained on and rolls up very compact. Well worth the money.

WTF?!? Is that just a big sheet? Why do they need a prototype for something like that?

A car cover is a simple solution. My car is covered while at work. This is the best $200 investment I have made.

Hopefully my next car (in 10/15 years...I love this car!) will have LCD glass, with adjustable tint.

Got a full car cover for my Z at Costco for $30. Works great. Doesn't look as good as davidv's but for $30 buck can't beat it.

It has never blown off the car? I'd hate to come out and see my $200 car cover has blown off. Not too worried about theft, since the lot in monitored by cameras and security SUV, plus only employees can enter the property. But the wind gusts can get up there since we are sorta up on a hill. Plus if the car is even a bit dirty isn't it a bad idea to put the car cover on?

i wonder what car is underneath 350ceo, i would assume the car cover would have clips of some sort to buckle it down.

I'll go to WalMart and buy a Martha Stewart sheet for less than that!

Better yet, my parents still have my Transformer sheets. I'll use them and voila! . . . . . Instant throwback "Poptop"

i thought it was teaser pics they put up, and the thing was about Targa Tops for coupes, and hardtops for roadsters or something like that.

Then i realized that it wasn't a mod for the car, but that sheet on top of the car, i couldn't help but let out a chunkle.
