Sorry to have to say it but goodbye Z buddies.

The GTO is a cool car, I would rather have an 03' 04' cobra but get what you like and don't give a flying fu(k what anyone else thinks
I will admit that the styling is not even close the the beautiful Z. That is one thing I will miss. People can't mistake the Z for another car except maybe a higher end car. The GTO can be mistaken as a lower end Pontiac. The Z has a true sports car look.
Some of you guys are being Z TOOLS. We all know you love the Z as do I but putting down all other cars or practically all domestics is just dumb. Why not just give the guy thumbs up and wish him the best on his new purchase.
Sorry to see you leave. Enjoy all that hp and torque under the pedal. Many old forum members have left behind their Z's to move onward...many to GM as you are. I know it still amazes people. Some have left their TT 350's in favor of the C6 or even Z06. Tons of mod potential with powerfully explosive s/c's and TT's. The GTO sure makes a great drift car as well. Take care and enjoy.
(Don't slam this guy for his choice, many of you youngsters buying used should be grateful for people like him, otherwise you might not have a car
)

The GTO is far superior to the Z's, ESPECIALLY the material quality.

Better interior, better motor, 4 seats.
Each car has their benefits. The GTO is more of a grand touring car, softer ride/ more comfortable. Even so, the stock tires are complete crap which is shown in the skidpad #'s.

Best of luck with your GTO. BTW, saw a 64 goat the other day - bone stock and red. What a classic.
[QUOTE=jakesford]you got the pokets part right lol, oh yeah and get really good a rebuilding a rotary or know someone that does lol...[QUOTE=jakesford]
What do you mean by pokets part? I thought about getting a RX7. Can you give my more info on that?
I know rx7's engine reliability isn't that good, is THAT bad? Have you owned RX7 before?
Btw, sorry for jacking the thread
Thanks.

How could one even compare a Z to a gto. GTO look like a grand am on steroids but still can't compare. GTO has no style of its own for that reason and they are quick but I wouldn't consider them insanely fast as few mods to your Z and its a different story all together. Hey everyone has their own cup of tea just not mine at all!! Good luck

Funny thing is it isn't a domestic.
But your point is valid.

Actually, it isn't really discontinued most likely, just skipping a year or so:

New GTO coming around the bend
Wednesday, March 01, 2006
Joshua Dowling
Special to The Plain Dealer
Geneva, Switzerland- The Pontiac GTO isn't dead after all, says a top General Motors Corp. executive, who also hinted there might be a new ultra-fast Corvette coming.
The current GTO will be phased out at the end of this year, but an all-new model is expected to return at the end of 2008 as a 2009 model, said Bob Lutz, who heads GM's global vehicle development.
In an interview at the international auto show in Geneva, Switzerland, Lutz also suggested an even more powerful version of the Corvette might be on the way.

With the GTO they had a great engine, they had goodwill in the name GTO......and they BLEW IT in the styling department. It looks like every other GM piece of crap.
If it wasn't for the Vette, I would rank GM between Yugo and 1980's Hyundai.
It is sad what is happening to GM at the present, and might speak volumes about some of their cars, management, etc. But I wouldn't be so fast to condemn them or write them off completely.
Look what happened to Chrysler 25 or so years ago. They were in a terrible state of affairs and the gov't stepped in to help them. What did they ultimately produce? Cars such as the Viper and Prowler and the return of the hemi... some outrageous hp numbers.
GM isn't buried yet. There may be hope. And despite anyone's take on the GTO, one thing is for sure: its got great hp and lots of torque. If that is what the poster is into, that is what he got. Some people put less premium on looks for the thrill of performance...and even performance is measured in varying ways.
Once again, enjoy your ride.
