Default 06... rock chips

So, i have an 06 with about 5K on it, and not a single rock chip, only a lil curb rash on one rim... i hear all these people saying they have so many rock chips after fewer miles than I have.... anything different about the 06 paint?

Wait til you have 10k+ It seems rocks know when you hit that mileage and they come by the masses. I have 16k on my 05 and the front bumper is covered with chips, scratches, pits, etc. I'll have it painted soon and a clear bra will be put on.

Nissan paint will forever be crappy. My other Nissans were the same bad quality. That extra 200 pounds is mostly applied to sound deadening.

I have about 2300 miles on mine and I've counted 4 or 5 rock chips so far just past where the clearbra ends on my hood . it was from driving thru the damn desert going to AZ two weekends ago while it was raining and windy with dust and rocks being thrown everywhere. i hate the f#%n desert..

The key is to stay at least one car length behind the car in front of you.

I drive almost 85% in town (2k miles) and the only rock chip I have is from the time I went to MD. I think most the rock chips you get are going to be from being on the highway.

I might be making a trip to Mesa, AZ at the end of April. Other than the rock chips, how bad is the drive?

it's not too bad, i went to Chandler. i think the weather had mostly to do with my rock chips because it was pretty windy that day. i took the 91 to the 60 and that part was fun because it gets a little twisty. the rest of the drive is pretty boring after palm springs. didn't really see too many cops but my V1 went off when there were some troopers parked on an exit ramp chit chatting to each other. I think that was in CA. The drive is about 6 1/2 hours to Chandler, that's including traffic jams and slow cars due to the weather. I've done the drive about 12+ times though, it usually averages around 6 hours.

oh and i also leave from the beach and end up in SE chandler which is like in the middle of nowhere so it might be shorter for you

i have had my Z for 4 months, got it brand new. it's an 05 daytona blue track. it has 6000 miles on it. it has SO MANY rock chips on the hood. i'm paying $370 to have it touched up and buffed and then probably like $500 for a clear bra. i can't believe how badly it has chipped. what the hell is wrong with this paint?

Does anyone know what color shows the chips the least? I would think the darker colors show those chips up like a magnifying glass, so that you will have less complaints on the side of the PPW, SS, etal? I put a clear bra on at 50 miles, but it only covers so far....

I have a 2006 Datonya Blue Z and we have 900 miles on it and I noticed 3 small chips on the hood when I washed it Sunday. How disappointing !!! I guess a touch up pen might improve the looks. Has anyone used this touch up pen I see advertised. SullyZ

I heard from people the 06' paint is the worst so far.....worse than previous years.

(maybe because the 06' models are heavier - they hit the rocks harder...LOL.)
