Default Gas, oil questions

Just a few ?s for you z gurus in here. I have an 2004 enthusiast 6 spd just had it about a week. I saw it recommended premium fuel (ouch). Do any of you alternate plus and premium or just always put premium? It is nearing 3 dolalrs per gallon where i live in TN.
Also, I was looknig at my owners manual and looking at the three options on servicing. Do you all normally just follow the basic rule of go 3 or 4 thousand miles and change the oil or do you take it to Nissan and let them do all those "special" inspections they recommend? Also, should I, if ever, use synthetic oil or just 5w30? Would it be an embarassment to my car just to take it to valvoline for a "normal" oil change? Lastly, do they usually change the oil when the car is traded in because I dont know the last time it was changed since I just bought it? Thanks a lot.

I do the 3750miles oil changes my self. A lot of people use Mobil1. But any oil that matches the owner manuals specs will do.

Change it now to be safe (I doubt the dealer would bother).

Run it on premium only, all the time. The recommandations are not there just for fun. A lot of discussions have been done about it. You'll get better mileage anyways.

Service options: I use schedule #1. The difference between the options is generally visual inspections not important maintenance such as replacing brake fluid.

Your other questions have been discussed a dozen times. Please search.

But isnt't service option #1 the most involved and, therefore, expensive?

The manual is pretty clear on what kind of driving mandates which service intervals.

And changing the oil too often can’t hurt.

No. The most inclusive schedule is premium. But I am not concerned about the cost because I do not take the car to Nissan for routine maintenance anyway.

Here's a rule of thumb I was told when I first got my Z, " You didn't buy a cheap car, so don't do or buy cheap stuff for it" I take mine in to the dealer for $9 oil changes with mobile 1. Hell, it costs more to buy the stuff and do it myself.

$9.00 oil change ?????what other service do they add on? Mann I would pay any dealer $9.00 to just jack up my car for me and I'll do my own oil change..
sounds to good to be true.

Use the Premium as much as possible.... change the oil now, just to be on the safe side, rule of thumb is every 5000 KMS, but I change mine every 3500kms..
GoodLuck.

It's true. The dealer where I bought my car told me it would be $9 oil changes and free car washes for as long as I owned the vehicle. Of course I'm **** about my car, so I wash it myself, but if I could fit a jack under the car or find a good place to actually jack the car up by, I'd do it myself. I've always done all my own up keep, but for the price, I can't beat it

How do you change the tire if you can't jack the car up?

I use the factory jack on the side right by the tire. Where's the best place to put the jack with the underbody diffuser in the way?

I use Royal Purple 5w30 synthetic oil + militec-1. go to http://www.militec-1.com/ for more information. I change the oil evey 6000 miles and oil filter every 3000 miles. I also use Shell V-Power "nice stuff".
